School’s out for the day, at the recently opened Taylor Home School Academy (THSA) in American Fork, Utah. We have only 4 students (2 7th graders - twins, 1 3rd grader, and 1 in Kindergarten). All 4 have their own computer to attend classes remotely. They are all better and faster typists than I, and they can easily and quickly navigate to almost any appropriate screen. Here at THSA, we have a Principal, a Cook, a Janitor and a Hall Monitor - and right now, I’m all 4.
After his on-line classes were done for today, my 3rd grader and I sat and talked for an hour. The conversation devolved into kids riddles, corny jokes, and then the dreaded “Dad Jokes,” all of which were painful but still hilarious to him.
It was one way for us to fill the many hours of not much to do and nowhere to go.
He missed his ninja class last night. (Damn virus!) I was of no use for that. After all, there’s only so much a grandpa can do.
