It they closed liquor stores, there would be anarchy. Hospitals would be receiving patients going through withdrawals. Plus, 80% kills the virus.

Here in Canada they've announced that they can't close liquor stores or all hell would break loose.

So essential services that need to stay open: Hospitals, pharmacies, grocery shops, liquor stores.

It would be funny if it weren't tragic. A huge statement on our priorities and our potential social ills.

Meanwhile, they're begging for retired medical personnel to volunteer to go to "northern communities" to assist in the front line efforts against CV.

("Northern communities" - descriptor indicating areas where Canada's First Nations peoples live).

80 proof is 40% alcohol. I have no idea how this whole "proof" system came about, but there it is.

Even 100 proof (e.g. Knob Creek) won't kill the virus, although it will get your throat a little agitated. :)

I assume EverClear is sold out.

Gunpowder and taxes. Would you expect anything less from the history of alcohol?

has gone to 2 liquor stores in the past few days. Bought my boyfriend some nice Scotch for his birthday and bought my sister some wine.

Brigham City's liquor store had no customers and Logan you had to wait in line.

You don’t want pissed off smokers either. The rumor in New York is that they want to stop sale of cigarettes for six weeks. It would cause riots.

Well personally I think this is great. I just get wine from the supermarket and I love a glass especially after being in the hospital for a 13 hour shift.

Just shows that temples are non-essential places!

It's more like that temple services are so non-essential to begin with. Cigarettes and alcohol and even things like hair cutting and pedicures are more essential.

What do the coffee isles look like in Utah? I think next to TP, that's one of the emptiest isles here. I was thinking that it might also be in Utah. You know, all those people who love Starbucks for the "hot chocolate."

Coffee and beer aisles fully stocked. Just the opposite of a Gulf Coast hurricane run.

But the sugar shelves are empty. It's Utah's addiction. Well, that and porn.

Last week the Liquor store line in Ogden area was all the way out the door and down the side walk, The parking lot was jammed. My coworker (who's likely an alcoholic) told me that they were only letting in 5 people at a time. And the wait was over an hour.

Well that clearly demonstrates priorities.

Have a problem?

Drink a fifth of scotch!
It won't cure the problem but
you won't give a damn
