The bard and my beloved son were born this day. My son lost his job to the pandemic, and he didn't qualify for a stimulus check. His present this year is a cash infusion from the people who love him.

I am sorry about your son, Don.

I hope he will be able to find interim employment soon (even if it is, in the long term, temporary)--and I am glad he has you and his other family ready to help him over the hump.

My Shakespeare is, at best, surface and spotty--with the exception of the plays we had to read in American [sic! ;) ] Lit--whose footnotes were wildly bowdlerized to prevent us from ACTUALLY understanding the text as Shakespeare had written it!

Happy Birthday, William Shakespeare.

Happy Birthday, Don's son.

Thanks. I studied some Shakespeare in college, notably Henry IV. I doubt that anyone will be surprised that I wrote my paper for the class on the subject of Falstaff.

From whence comes my favorite Shakespeare quote: "The better part of valor is discretion."

Mine has to be, "They hate us youth!" bellowed by a fifty-year-old sot.

It is widely believed he died on this date, too.

If your son is looking for work to tide him over this pandemic crisis, around here Wal-Mart, Costco, Fred Meyers (a super store in the NW) are all begging for help.

One tip, most require you apply on line. The application goes to some central location in another part of the country.

Complete that application, print off a copy for yourself. Submit the application to that central office but take a copy of your application to the local store and give it to the manager.

I've heard of a couple of people that did this and got hired on the spot.

Good luck.

Nowadays, certain retail is essential. Hopefully, we'll appreciate them when this is all over.
