Can someone tell me what Mormon teaching is about the purpose of sex?

For example, does the church teach that the purpose of sex is reproduction?

If that is true, the obvious rejoinder is, "so you don't perform marriage ceremonies on people who are biologically unable to reproduce?"

"The purpose of marriage is a family."

Sex is just one to make a family. Not as proper and orderly as adoption, but whattaya gonna do?

Then wouldn't it make sense to outlaw sex and instead, insert a syringe into the balls and extract the juice and user a turkey baster to inject into your partner?

I don't recall ever hearing a purpose for sex, rather all I heard was that the enjoyable acts were reserved for married people, per gods command. Religion doesn't explain, or give purposes, for a lot of things, just commandments.

I agree that teachings about sex--in Mormonism, and also Catholicism, probably Islam, probably Orthodox Judaism, etc---are all *in fact* about control.

I (am) was curious about the propaganda regarding sex.

The purpose of sex is as a control tactic. Once they control your sex life, they've got you right where they want you. Jewish mothers only *think* they have the corner on guilt.

Was never about children or family.

Let's assert control over peoples orgasmic function via claims on an unproven afterlife.

They'll do whatever we tell them.

Do we get to be a eunique or unic (or however you write that), in the afterlife?
I do recall someone saying that you get multiple wives on some level and another level, you are a unic.

Those of consigned to it prefer to refer to it as the Law of the Smoothies.

Yeah, we get to be Smoothies, eternal Ken & Barby dolls. But I have never figured out if, based on our memories, we can hug and kiss and grind out pretend orgasms, just for old times sake.

Also haven’t figured out if the ladies will have boobies. I hope it at least comes to vote!

Something to think about next time you order a Banana Smoothie. What an oxymoron. No?

You just gave me an idea: next time I encounter a mishie, I'll ask all about sex in the afterlife. THAT should make them cringe!

"The body is an essential part of the soul. This distinctive and very important Latter-day Saint doctrine underscores why sexual sin is so serious. We declare that one who uses the God-given body of another without divine sanction abuses the very soul of that individual, abuses the central purpose and processes of life, ‘the very key’ to life, as President Boyd K. Packer once called it." ~Holland

"Every person who was ever born on earth is our spirit brother or sister."

So you can be sealed to anyone, biological reproduction is trumped by spiritual reproduction.

OP implicitly assumes the purpose of marriage is sex.

OP must be single.

The message is slavery dressed up as morality.

You don't really own yourself.

The church owns you through a facade painted up as god. You pay them money, service, time to be allowed to use your body in certain prescribed ways.

A NeverMo will never understand: in Mormonism there is the official doctrine and how your local bishop interprets it and how your spouse, parents or anyone with power to make your life hell interprets it. And then, these are in flux from month to month, decade to decade, prophet to prophet.

One general authority (forget which one) even went as far as to volunteer in a speech that he had never even seen his wife naked.

No wonder why they don't want to abandon asking people about their sex lives.

At least this way they can live by proxy.

LIFE is NOT about pleasure.

You CAN'T have fun!

Just have [LDS] (Lazy Dumb Suckers) BABIES...

And never let them grow up, or learn anything (good, true, or chaste...), [Or leave tscc, no matter how bad it gets!], or THINK, FEEL, or DO anything for themselves, or others, or the planet or environment, or even BE THEMSELF.

Mormonism knows nothing & cares not, nor teaches anything about beauty, courting, flirting (for-play), joy, honesty, equality, etc.

LDShood would rather you had a plastic MORMON baby than a solid wood athiest baby or a custom hand-blown glass Methodist kid, or a bronze titan theosophist teenager.

It doesn't want LOVE & HAPPINESS & FREEDOM.

It wants home-reprosuction robot (cash-machine) babies that grow into fields ready to plow.
