I'm going through a med switch for major depressive disorder. It seems to have triggered a hypomania.

I'm going to take a bit of a break and try to reset.

If any of you knows of a Brad Pitt movie where he smiles a lot, besides "Legends of the Fall", I've watched that too many times, lemme know.

My new theme song:

I don't know of any Brad Pitt films which fit your specs, but I am (and will be) thinking about you, and hoping you are getting through whatever the "process" is--as quickly and as easily as is possible.

Be safe, and know that we care about you!

Speedy reset, kiddo.

Not a lot of smiling, but A River Runs Through It. The scenery is otherworldly. I drive through it every chance I get, which seems to be about every other year.

Of course, for scenery, just looking out the window works well where you are. Don't ducks grin? Of course, they're not Brad Pitt.

Do pop in when so moved.

Don't let anyone stay in the house and keep telling Dave NO. Say hi to the ducks for me. I may be writing you with some questions about the bee house :)

Take care of those ducks and yourself.

Brad Pitt's bit part in Thelma & Louise before he was a big name might be worth a look!

And we look forward to your installments of Adventures with Ducklings.

(Not misAdventures, we hope!)

You're probably already peaced out, but look into Ketamine. Good luck to you.

try a Groucho Marx or 'the mouse that roared' if a comedy would help, maybe 'It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World'

My wife says "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Moneyball," and maybe "The Tree of Life." I'm not much of a movie fan.

Take care and be well, Beth.

Beth, take care of yourself. I'm sure that the stress of Covid is not helping things either.

I totally get the Brad Pitt thing. He's my movie star crush at present, and let's face it, is always a good choice for movie star crush. Ocean's Eleven (Twelve, Thirteen) would be fun and diverting.

Looking at IMDB, I didn't realize that he already had a decent resume by the time Thelma and Louise and A River Runs Through It came along. I remember him being heart-stoppingly beautiful in A River Runs Through It. Not the most cheerful movie though, IIRC.

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000093/

Has he ever done a conventional romantic leading role? Looking through his resume, his roles tend to be on the more complex side.

The highlights of my poofed post:

1. Cold turkey won't work - trying to limit time on the board

2. Watched Ad SomethingOrOther where Pitt plays an astronaut. Not much smiling.

3. Watched A River Runs Through It. Hadn't seen it in forever. Lots of smiling and the scenery erases the plot holes.

K - going to work.

Thank you all so very much.

I've hit my RfM time limit for the day. I've complained about something, and I saw Fred the Duck Dog. My life is complete.

I'm going to recommend Snatch. A Guy Ritchie crime caper where BP plays a gypsy fighter. Understanding of British humor and subtitles a *must*. How about Twelve Monkeys? a little on the weird side, but it's shot in Philadelphia, and BP flashes his butt. Heal.

Last night I watched, "Burn After Reading." It was good until it wasn't.

Right now I'm trying *very* hard to watch "Tree of Life," but it's weirding me out. It's like the time the Discovery Channel aired a program about dragons. Dragons.

I have no idea what this movie is about. Hell, the screenwriter has no idea what this movie is about.

All the Oceans movies cost dollars. >:/

I like Snatch, especially the tea cosy bit annnnnd the caravan. I might have to go there if this Tree business doesn't get its act together.

Feeling pretty okay.

Think of it not as a story "about" anything. It's a nature documentary film about humans, but artificially constructed with actors, camera work, cinematic flourishes, etc. There is no narrator telling us a story, just action and dialog being captured on film.

We're so used to narrative films telling us a story with plot, themes, subtext, protagonist, antagonists, quests, and all the other literary devices that it's a little disorienting seeing a non-narrative film. True documentaries have a different look--breaking the 4th wall, shaky camera, etc. This cues our brain to not expect a "story". "Tree of Life" has the visual richness of a storytelling film, so it cues our brain to expect a story, which is absent. Quite the juxtaposition (or cognitive dissonance like you experienced).

"The Thin Red Line" by the same director might be more enjoyable for you.

Take care, Beth. See you again soon.

Love the music choice! It’s pretty easy to see why Diana Krall fell for the bloke.
