Does anyone want a collection of Post-Mormon Hymns? Most are parody songs.

If so, let me know. PLukeFirestoker@outlook.com

Over the years I've seen superb parody hymns, but they're often on message boards that fade away. View From The Foyer, for example, has some absolute classics. Didn't the Salamander Society have some as well? I'm sure Reddit has some. And if you have more, that's great!

Once everybody has voted on the best of the 28 versions of "Come Come Ye Saints, and then filled in the gaps of obscure hymns that nobody parodies, we could self publish a hymn book patterned after the old one.

We used to have some really good ones posted here. I remember the first lines of some of them. "E're you left your room this morning, did you pray to think?" And "Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be thinkers."

You can enjoy 325 Exmo Hymns, that's more than the LDS Hymnal itself, here:

Thanks! Some of these are really good. I'd love to hear Weird Alma doing covers of the best ones. There's enough here for a weekly podcast.

I tried contacting the Salamander Society and kept receiving error messages and statements that files can not be found. Does the Society still exist?

I dug around a bit, and can't find anything that's been updated since the early 2010s. "Whois" says the domain is paid for until 2023. Presumably some middle aged guy will pay for it every five years, then in 2033 or so it will not be there. A few of us will find it on archives and even those will be lost the noise.

This is why COJOLDS will survive. They are organised. They have a social structure. The have a big PR arm. Exmo social sites don't. All the best stuff disappears, leaving only a general low level buzz. Sometimes an exmo site makes a big dent - like Mormon Stories or the CES letter - but the monolithic church can slowly adjust. Buy more land. Go more mainstream. Lean on TBMs who can influence the bad guy. Search engine optimisation. Innoculation. All of the above. Might take generations, but it works: you don't pay those PR teams for nothing.

And if an exmo site ever got big enough to make a difference it would become more and more like the church: top down, own survival oriented, make friends in high places and all that implies.

This is why I am not optimistic about the future. Young people can say "truth will prevail!" But history tells us different.
