Mormons are theists. Theism covers a very wide spectrum. Theists are as widely diverse as breeds of dogs. But they all go “woof”. If Mormonism were a dog, what breed would it be?

For one thing, it would be a mixed breed (mixed breeds take various traits from the pure breeds that preceded it), but church leaders would insist it was a pure breed that had been missing since the time of Christ.

Over time, church leaders would change their description of the one, true breed, while insisting that they never changed anything.

Brigham Young said that any breeds that mixed should have their blood shed in atonement.

Not a dog. Dogs are loyal and caring. They have souls. I've known dogs that were better christians than most mormons.

The church would be a cat. Specifically an ocelot.

In South America there is a saying "Friendly like an Ocelot".

It means someone looks cute and cuddly. May even act friendly. Snuggle up to you. But in an instant turn on you and betray you.

I vote for skunk. Looks interesting from a distance but the closer you get - watch out!

The church would be a Laughing Hyena or a Dingo, something not so noble as a Wolf, and something you wouldn't want to let in to your house.

A Pit Bull, dressed up like a Golden Retriever.
Looks like it's smiling all the time, but will rip your throat out if you turn your back on it.

I have a pit bull-lab mix. All she wants to do is have strangers play fetch with her. Correction: Lot's of patience and training, but that's just because she's a big girl. She's got a big blocky pitt head that has caused a busted lip.

I see no violent nature in my girl. I grew up afraid of pit bulls until my cousin got a few. They are wonderful animals

Not to besmirch rodents, but TSCC would be a hanta virus carrying rodent of some sort.

A cold, dry, crumbling, shriveled "Hot Dog on a Stick" wrapped up in a crisp $100 bill.

I think it would be a cross between a bulldog and a shitzu.

Dog? An insult to dogs, though JWs do have some of the jumpy characteristics of Jack Russel terriers.

LDS Inc is more of a fungus infection - localized, and generally not fatal, but hard to get rid of.

If the mormon church was to be a dog, then doggone it, it should be dog gone.

A hot dog; made up of unhealthy crap and of dubious origin. :p

One of those big overfriendly slobbering dogs which leaves its paw prints all over you and your home and takes a massive dump in your garden.
