Here is the reply that I just sent to my Bishop regarding a previous post. Short and sweet!

Also, I address him by his first given name, not Bishop. I only have it here for anonymity.

Bishop,

I know my first email was crystal clear about how I feel.  I wasn't seeking counsel from you, I was simply informing you of my beliefs.  Let's respectfully agree to disagree.

Thank you,
Exmollymo

Some have been a little confused...this is not resignation letter. Except maybe a resignation from my calling, but not my membership in the church.

Short, direct and to the point.

Bravo!

Perfect! That's how long his email should have been.

The sad thing is, I even edited the Bishop's email for length!

If he is the type that won't let go, you may have to resort to other methods to get him to leave you alone like ignoring him completely, blocking his email, and not taking any calls or visits.

You made yourself clear. Now, if he is smart, he'll back off and be quiet, release you from the calling and leave you alone.

Perhaps you could be a little tougher in your next communication.

How does "If I do not receive a letter confirming my RESIGNATION within xxx days, I will take legal action and inform the news media" sound??

The late Kathy Worthington, the godmother of the resignation movement, always advised the threat of legal action. She was not an attorney, but when members trying to resign approached her for help with stalling, a quick phone call to Greg Dodge, laced with veiled threats if swift action were not taken, seemed to work wonders.
