I officially cut off my Mormon “friend,” who was becoming a leech on my sanity.

The worst part? I gave him food for thought and I don’t think he’s actually going to think about anything I said. I told him this and to not get political I’ll leave out names.

Idiot TBM: I didn’t vote for (insert name). He’s not sure of where he is half the time.

Me: how is that different from Monson and many of the other leaders of the Mormon church?

I cut him off and went for blood. I told him talking to him was “like talking to a 6 year old because even a middle schooler doesn’t make arguments like you do.” (“All politicians lie,” he said about that Utah senator. I said that sounds like a kindergartner saying vegetables are “icky.”) He likes calling himself naive so I had to put in the maturity part that even a middle schooler is more mature than him.

Good bleepin riddance.

The modern world is gravitating toward political topics as the manner in which to reject some relationships and embrace others.

With this division, it appears that hating the political opposition is acceptable behavior.

I don't discriminate based on politics. I do discriminate when it comes to those who have no evidence or reason behind their thinking. I don't enjoy talking to them. It's just not the same as batting around opposing ideas that both have something at least possibly concrete behind them.

I often find that these people have an unfounded surety that they are right, sometimes loaded with arrogance and condescension.

For this I always follow the Mark Twain quote:

"Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

I like what you did. When I end a friendship I like it clear as to why. A good stream of saying it like it is and then adios.

I tried to tell him why I cut it off. And called him the person most resistant to facts that I have ever met.

He started talking about himself being “pro-gun,” in the middle of all the crap that is happening. I knew I had to dump him right then and there. Only if he was pro library and pro schooling his daughters wouldn’t have married at 19 and found husbands in the sewer.

Mormonism is like perpetual Junior High. Your friend should fit right in.

He would fit in. And he would like it. He brags about being naive: a grown 58 year old man.

I joined "Guns & Beer Fer Ghawd" when I was 19 and the only meetings I have missed were when I was in the 'Nam, and I was told that the 'Nam counted towards earning my Perfect Attendance Medal, for to put on my casket.

Git 'er done!!!

Guns & Beer fer Ghawd, forever!!!!
