All I wanted was for today to be a normal day of beating up people in wheel chairs. This afternoon I met a wheel chair client who had just finished a dialysis treatment. While I was preparing her she sprung a leak in a major blood vessel in her upper arm where the access point is. Apparently the vessel didn't close properly. I tend to not like it much when people bleed to death in front of me. Luckily there was a nearby nurse whom I snagged to help me. The nurse took total charge of the situation and knew exactly what to do. She was even giving me orders and I was glad to help.
In thirty years or so cabbing... I got close to quite a few dialysis patients who, sadly, almost never made it more than about five years except for a few exceptions.
