My all-time favorite one-panel cartoon was in the New Yorker, circa the mid-1970s. At that time I was a subscriber. Now that I've learned to read English, I consider the magazine to be beneath me. Back then I only got it for the cartoons.
So here's the story, from the Deseret Times-Picayune-News:
https://www.deseret.com/entertainment/2021/3/26/22353309/new-yorker-cartoon-caption-contest-latest-winner-from-utahThose who read the article, or finish reading this post, will learn that the 19-year-old winner is from Orem and is currently (as in right now! meaning he's not in the mission field!!!) attending Rice University.
The article mentions that his mom, a J. Reuben Clark school of law professor, has also won that contest. It doesn't mention that his dad is also an instructor at the law school.
So just how 'mormon' can these people be?
Why would the Deseret Times-Picayune-News fail to mention the father of the winner? He's the one with the priesthood that is holding the family together! He's the one who gets the additional wives!!
Her CV mentions that during her time in law school, she participated in a one-hour-per-week comedy show on a local radio station.
How/why do sharp-as-a-tack, really brainy, funny people stay mormon? Is that why the 19-year-old winner is not in the mission field?
This is like one of those "What's wrong with this picture?" deals!
