I'm sure it's just me, but were I a resident of that rather simple, seemingly benign neighborhood, I would consider the placement of a temple in my 'hood to be a rank intrusion, despite the possibility of my property value being increased.
Big ass structures that stick out like sore thumbs! Who needs them?

It's in a semi rich rural neighbor. The Burley Golf course isn't that far away. You can see the Burley city lights from the field at night. It's nowhere near I-84. I wonder why they didn't decide to put it along exit 208 near Walmart!!!?? It would be a lot more visible from there!!
Somehow I doubt that this temple isn't going to get much use when done. Rumor has it it's going to be one of the morg's smaller temples!! What will this do with property values around the temple?? Will it affect house properties a mile away??!!! Will they go higher or lower!!???
I think the old model was to be highly visible from the freeway, a la McDonalds or Motel 6. But they’ve probably realized that visibility isn’t getting them any more members, so now the model is to raise land values in their desired areas (where they already own land).
Last week in SLC went past the under construction Taylorsville temple in the SL valley. It's right there facing the south bound offramp of I215, against the actual overpass. Not at all impressed with the location
The church isn’t about growing the membership in Idaho as it’s about making what stays more loyal. The whole temple game does that. It’s not even about going to the temple it’s keeping the pressure on to have a temple recommend.
This is just about putting pressure on the locals to keep temple recommends so they stay in. I'm guessing the Yorba Linda, CA temple could be built next to the Nixon Library as much of the land in that area is built up. Putting it next to that place would attract the more politically conservative members to visit it instead of the Irvine/Newport Beach or Redlands temples.
