Weather service temperatures aren't taken in the sun, they're in a box with circulation slats.

the challenge here is two-fold:

a) tradition in the U.S.

b) F temps scale a wider variance so it can accurately be told as a bit more reflective of the actual warmth.

( 0 to 100 Celsius or Centigrade, take your choice water freezing to boiling at sea level,

32 to 212 for Fahrenheit)

Quick conversion is (Cx2)+30, or (F-30)/2
Useless info but have avoided going out in full winter gear thereby

38C is roughly 100 F. Every degree Celsius is 1.8 degrees Farenheit. If you follow Global Warming, 3 C means 5.4 F warmup. Boiling point of water is 100 C, which is 32 F set to Zero C, plus 100 degrees C, or 180 F past the boiling point of water.

Second easiest is the freezing point of 0C=32F.

I guess for USAmericans, just keeping this list would be simple enough:

C = F
-20 = -4
-10 = 14
0 = 32
10 = 50
20 = 68
30 = 86
40 = 104

Interpolate as useful.

(And yes, the actual conversions of 1.8C+32 = F and (F-32)/1.8=C are fine too, I just think that people do better with tables of numbers.)

Yup, it's hot in the American northwest. Maryland is rather hot and humid as well, but not *that* bad.

We've got a week of 95F Temps ahead of us here...and we're very dry. 1/4 if the rain we normally get in June. Dryland crops won't yield much. Glad I'm retired.

It's 92 at 10:30 pm near Vancouver. It was 110 in my car today with air conditioning on. Two more days of it at least. Way hotter than normal for us. I am not enjoying it. And my skin doesn't like the sun. Double whammy.

I hope it's an aberration but am afraid not from now on. We usually get one day this hot in mid-summer once every three years. Yow.

Only one day every three years is what the weather guy said. I can't even stand being in the 80s. This is brutal. Not cooling down even at night. Hard to sleep. I sure hope the forecast is correct & we get relief by Tuesday.

My sister was on TV news yesterday talking about providing water for homeless folks. They're having a tough time finding shade & the temps are in the danger zone.

They're saying this is our new normal. ((groan))

Was 97 here this afternoon...and getting hotter before the week is over...

101 here in Central Cali today, supposed to be 108 tomorrow, and no dip below 100 in the 10-day forecast. Traveling to AZ next week to cool down!!

Hottest temp ever recorded in Canada was today at Litton, BC. 46.1 C (114.98F) We've had one 100F day so far....with maybe a few more this week. Will be glad when it cools off.

One word: Waterfalls, bluffs, shade/ woods, pools (sold out!), AC drives, WORK inside, fans, beaches...
