Since I sent in my resignation and got the standard typed reply and the obligatory call from a/the bishop and I've never been contacted since to try and suck me back in. Perfect.
Was that in the era when we used to post saying we got our ‘Greg Dodge’ letters? He was the guy in Membership Records who processed and signed our ‘I’m out’ letters back then. Things apparently changed when there were just too many resignations for him to do alone. (Been 15 years for me.)
Oh yeah, the infamous Dodge letter! I just looked him up. As far as I can tell, he's living a rather unremarkable life (I mean that in a good way,) still working for the church, and likely in the latter stages of his career. I always wondered what he made of all of those people wanting to resign.
I have always had a bit of affection for him. He was a nice man stuck in a shitty position. I will never forget the year we sent him a Christmas tree and LDSInc wouldn't let him keep it. Maybe we can get Cricket to tell that story.
I haven't looked at it since I got it, but I did save it. I do get bothered quite often as, after all, my dear daughter is TBM and lives here half the year four doors down. Gotta suck us all back in. Hasn't worked yet. Just got the neighborhood newsletter last Sunday on my door. I thought of saying something again, but decided the bishop has been a good guy (one of my immediate neighbors) and I thought I'd spare him. I love how they say it is a neighborhood newsletter brought to us by the Hyrum 4th ward.
I’m still waiting to be excommunicated. stamps costs $$ and after 55 years before I left the building several years ago they have enough. I mean I was in the bishopric, am openly both an apostate and a heretic, and have led most of my family out - I want my day in court. I certainly sat on a few (shudder) - those were the last straw.
