I readily admit that the following is conjecture on my part. Yet I have given it serious consideration. It is more believable to ancient astronaut theorists than to creationists and evolutionists.
There are some things with which I have come in contact that have given cause to my thought and reasoning processes. Consider the journey of the three wise men. They were led by a light emitting from a star that hovered above them and directed them toward Bethlehem.
What if there were ancient astronauts that had taken interest in the events unfolding and were lending a hand to facilitate their completion? Almost without exception when human beings have reported encounters with UFOs they speak of a light flashing down from the craft. So is it possible that otherworldly beings provided compas for the wise men to follow? Also let's look at time and distance. How far did these wise men have to travel and how long did it take them to get there?
It is most probable that they came Iraq, Iran, or Arabia. So it is reasonable to assume that their journey could have taken several months. If this were true then they would have been informed of the pregnancy near its' beginning or at the latest in the fourth month.
I cannot comprehend them being informed after the fact, making the journey, going to Herod and still finding the baby in a manger.
So continuing with the concept that the magi were guided by extraterrestrials would it then follow that these same beings would, by means of their intelligence sources be able to warn both the Magi and Joseph and Mary to “Get the hell out of dodge”?

O. M. G.

Here I wondered how people could actually think aliens were interested in probing human rear ends.

LOL ancient astronaut theorists LOL

You're a great guy thedesertrat1, but sheesh. This takes the cake. Yeah, it was so important for those wise men to bring gold, frankincense, and myrrh that aliens wanted to help. It's a good thing the aliens were tracking Mary's pregnancy.

Besides, everyone knows smart aliens would have been more interested in Zeus or Siddhattha Gotama. J/K

Hey If Ancient aliens on TV can have an opinion why can't I?

You can buy a lamp designed as a UFO beaming up a cow. Replace the cow with Baby Jesus! Explains everything.

You may be confusing 'aliens' with 'illegal aliens' . . .

I prefer Harvey, the 6 foot tall rabbit that Jimmy Stewart had in the movies. He was as real as Jesus.

If Joseph Smith were alive today he would be a UFO/New Age guru. He would go on Oprah, sell lots of books and videos. Have a retreat in Sedona, Arizona getting more ass than a toilet seat from the cut and naive women that are attracted to such forms of spiritualism.

The great mind fuck of Christianity is it’s a sin to ask for evidence. If you buy a house don’t you want to see that it actually exists and to go in and see what condition it’s in? Don’t you want to have an expert do an inspection?

In Christianity you just have to take it all in faith and if you don’t have faith and you want evidence you are unworthy.

Sure, an alien craft could be an explanation for the star of Bethlehem, but you're skipping a few steps...

First you need to prove that the birth of Jesus was a real event. Nobody's done that yet. Then you'd have to prove that the star of Bethlehem is more than just a story. You'd strengthen your case if you could show that real Magi actually visited an historical newborn Jesus. Maybe then you'd be at the stage of trying to show that the star was an alien guidance beacon.

If you could even conclusively demonstrate that first point, you'd be the star of more than just this board...but what you're proposing is just a mashup of bible and alien fantasy fiction. Maybe you can turn this into a novel and make some cash.

Actually my post was to stir up thinking and responses. There are millions of people on earth who are ancient astronaut theroists.

they may be right or wrong I don't care because what really matters, in my humble opinion, is how you live today and how you treat your fellow man.

Strongly recommend reading the book "Did Jesus Exist?" BY Bart D. Ehrman

For me, what's worked is not caring if Jesus existed or not, and then just dealing with the fallout that does exists because of the inability for even his most frenzied believers to get things organized in a manner that does more than benefit the leaders in the respective religions.

What's it like being 17 and female?  Did you keep notes?

Hold on now! I quit church at 13 years old so I never made it to Teacher. I was 21 and still a Deacon when I assumed the mantle of Missionary and was made an Elder.

As a 21 year old Deacon, I was hardly a jerk off (well in the sense you used anyway). And in spite of being a 21 year old Deacon, I achieved the lofty and glorious position of AP as a missionary! AP, can you believe it?

Now day's I'm just my usual totally cool and hip self.

I looked at it and looked at it and couldn't figure out what was wrong with 'goose pimples'!  It gave me goosebumps when I finally figured out the error of my ways . . .

"So is it possible that otherworldly beings provided compas for the wise men to follow?"

Given the Kolob in Mormon doctrine it isn't just possible but probable. It is either that or an actual star.

You are a credit to your religion.

I do a lot of reading of publications that are, to say the least, questionable. BUT I do not dismiss them out of hand because who knows? somewhere among them ther might just be a hidden evidence of things not being what we have been told by the ecclesiastical hierarchy! Oh heaven forbid they should ever mislead us
