It's good that they removed the missionaries from that area.

I wonder what they concluded was a safer spot ... in Mexico?

Even if they took them to a police station, the cops would be wanting their 'mordida'...

Mexico is a dangerous place for foriegners.
Especially if they are trying to interfere with the society in place.
The arrogance and holier than thou attitude that I have observed in some missionaries could lead to anger and violence
I would certainly NOT want any harm to come to the misionaries but they need to be more cautious about the way they ga about preaching

. . . and The Church needs to be more cautious in regard to the locations in which missionaries are placed.

Exactamundo.

I'm surprised they continue to send out missionaries at all with the pandemic ongoing. It's never been easier than our present day to have an impact: Just create a social media presence and reach out virtually to the entire world.

Or doesn't the Mormon Church have much really to say?

Maybe they think the personal touch is more noticeable and effective, all those white shirts and long skirts striding along or riding on bikes.

But no. The impact has been slight, the effort and expense questionable.

Perhaps the biggest make-work project in history.

I wonder if events like this will make some parents question the wisdom of sending out their teenagers into an unsafe location. Or will they revel in the sacrifice, whichever way things go.

Missionaries are not “sent out” to make an impact on anyone but themselves. The Church is developing a pool of future leaders, regardless of the people they influence while serving.

ONE MORE reason missing Aries shouldn't carry phones and wallets around with them. Another reason they shouldn't be there at all.

I'm guessing the phones belonged to the mission, and the missionaries probably didn't carry much cash. If they had any personal documents, such as driver's licenses, that would have been their biggest loss. But those items are replaceable. At least they are safe.

I'm sure they did, but they can easily be a target, the missionaries or their possessions.

They should wear robes
Nothing to rob, or rub

CNN NewsJerk: "Why did you rob those young missionaries?
Cartel Thug: "Because they were there."

72 followers of Christ wearing bulletproof underwear . . .

Consider it an act of charity; the COB will add the value of what was stolen to the total donated by the church this year.

I hadn’t thought about raising their arm to the square, but it did occur to me that this episode is yet another black eye for special discernment and priesthood power.

I guess the power of the priesthood didn't discern that this would happen...hmmmmm

I'm afraid that, if they deem it a hazardous place to serve, they will just move all the white American and Canadian missionaries out of there, and replace them with Mexican and South/Central American missionaries. I think that's what they did that back when the two American missionaries were gunned down in La Paz.

So will the church issue missionaries with chalkboards and flipcharts now that their tablets were taken away?

Instead of phones, maybe the church wiil teach them to use tin cans with strings?

I served long long time ago, but everything that was supplied by the church to missionaries was cheap.

I'm thinking church tablets and church issued cell phones are low quality electronics.

The most telling part of this grand theft involves two things- Did the robbers demand that missionaries give up their precious signs and tokens?

Also, did the men steal their year's supply of the Book of Mormon?

i lived a great part of my life as a gringo along the Mexican/Arizona border.
My take is this
Mexico is a dangerous place for United states citizens
I witnessed physical and mental abuse of Mexican nationals on the North side of the border.
it is no wonderthat they hate norte americanos.
But Mexico is traditionally a reolution based country SOOOOOOOOO
If you don't want to be killed in a barroom brawl
Stay the *&^% out of bar rooms
