Garments deflected or slowed down the body cavity trunk shell casing, just enough.

Would have escaped all harm, however, a tiny wee bit too much masterbation didn't allow it.

do mish's wear their Holy Garments while playing b-ball?

they'd get sweaty, don't ya think?

once at a nudist park we were (GOSH!) members of I convinced my DW to take her garments off & we put them in the community washing machine...

I was there with my son the day Lady Di was killed, I remember it well.

Nudism is or at least can be a very wholesome activity, it also helps young people & others to separate nudity from sex/sexuality.

I wish we were still together, still members.

On Friday night, a basketball game was being played in the cultural hall of the Birmingham-area meetinghouse, the church's statement said. Fauber, two other missionaries, and a group of people who were interested in learning more about the church were also in the building.

An unknown man entered the church building and spoke with Fauber at about 8:30 p.m. "A few moments later, Elder Fauber was shot multiple times. The shooter then fled," the statement said.

Sure, "a group of people who were interested in learning more about the church" were in the building too. Uh huh.

They sound desperate. It's like interjecting, "Look, we're growing! We're still totally relevant!" in a book report.

too many mad/unhappy people, too many guns.

I'd rather live where guns & other weapons aren't so commonly owned/possessed by non-police individuals.

Our 'freedoms' are tearing us apart.

Sweden has almost as many guns per capita as we do in the USA.

US is number one in guns per capita, at 120 guns per 100 civilians.

Sweden is number 22, at 23 guns per 100 civilians.

That's civilian guns. It doesn't count their mandatory military issued guns at each home.

Options: ReplyQuote

Swedes keep military-issued weapons in locked storage on base.

Meanwhile, we have enough civilian guns here in the USA to give every man, woman, and child a weapon--with 60+ million left over to spread around.

There are no mandatory issued firearms for civilians in Sweden. Firearms must be kept in a locked safe, and often these are communal, and controlled by the local city governments

I hate to say it, but what you are describing is state militias controlling weapons. That might ring familiar:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

In short, the Swedish system is what the founders of the US constitution intended. Sadly, American activists have deleted the militia context from the prevailing interpretation entirely. Today state militias, tomorrow a woman's right to choose. . .

Who needs a constitution anyway?

Oh, yeah, I hope he completely recovers ... from the gun-shot wounds.

But I'd be lying if I didn't admit that him being singled out makes me want to imagine that it's because he was part of a Satanic Gadianton Robbers-like group that was knocking off banks, holding up liquor stores, trading crack for sex at MIA, and he wasn't splitting the money fairly . . .

Yeah, I dream big!

Considering the shooter didn't speak to the others, it suggests the missionary was specifically targeted, but that's not much to go on.

Oh no no no, these neighborhood addicts out there will out of the blue demand cash from you whether you owe it to them or not.
Predators, simple predators!

Wimpy spineless missionary traits may have inadvertently sent a very very, wrong message. The possible boundary crossing that may have occured if two different gang members were invited to the same pick-up game is always a possibility, too.

Probably a juicy story in there, I bet.

A single gunmen of indeterminate socioeconomic background and drug background enters a building with lots of people and presumably lots of wallets and/or purses. He speaks to a single person and then shoots that person without taking any money from anyone. From that limited evidence you infer that the shooter was an addict hoping to get cash.

Do you not see the logical flaws in that reasoning?

Thinking that he didn't offer the gunman (who definitely was high at the time on drugs or alcohol) some cash if he might simply leave, would have maybe seemed like the line straight out of Charlie Sheen's sitcom life.

He didn't say that, that's for sure!
He must have told him he was here on the wrong night and no he could not, clean the toilets.
..pop..pop..pop
This made the suspect (who can easily be found)
very angry.

You really must appear to appease the predator and their predator mentality.

Unless you always confront real life on real life's terms, it could maybe easily somewhat appear as another senseless act of violence.
Y'gotta figure these things out, "Friday Night" b-ball game near a metro Alabama town.
Poor poor clutching skills.

Even if he'd died, we'd find ways and means to bash the church.

But he's going to live and will likely be released to a hero's welcome in his home ward...and maybe even a scholarship to the Y!

What's not to be happy about, as we skewer the organization?

This was a young boy people. He happens to be the grandson of a friend of my husbands’ but no matter if he’s a total stranger a child getting shot calls for nothing but sympathy for him and his family. From what I read here many of you served a mission and IT COULD HAVE BEEN YOU! There is a time for bitterness and this isn’t it.

We love him too!
We love ALL missionaries!

I am the one carrying the very first large important worldwide campaigns on the Internet, helping to change the way Mormons subjected missionaries to danger.

I'm sorry, it never stopped.

We may never know the details, but I have no problem contemplating some of the scenarios that come to mind as to why he was singled out.

And frankly, my dear, I think your husband and his friend are probably involved and I'm very upset with you for defending him/them!

And please recognize that if the church had not sent this missionary to Alabamaghastan, we wouldn't all be this fix! But then, with ghawd, everything happens for a reason. . .

And as I recall, you expressed to us an awareness that sometimes the church, via both dedicated and 'amateur' missionaries, has the power to separate family members, and you hoped that your cousin's son, in moving to Provo, wouldn't fall prey to any such mormon schemers. https://www.exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,2405114,2405223#msg-2405223

And now we have one less soldier in the field who can wreak such havoc. Yes, the means were extreme and none of us are likely to follow the gunman's example, but that gunman may have saved some cousin's son from the fate that was keeping you up nights.

(Yea, verily, a little harsh, perhaps, but nonetheless, genuine.)

I can't count how many times I was chided every time I tripped, fell off my bike or got bruised while playing a sport on p-day. There was lots of ribbing about my personal worthiness, thoughts of impurity or even whacking off under the covers.

Hell, I lost my eyeglasses during a missionary transfer. The jokes, pot shots were endless. Even the MP knew about it and made fun of me as a near sighted elder. He said that I was most deserving to be stuck blind. All was forgiven as he later climbed up the LDS Corp ladder of success- mean spirited and all!

I don't think anyone here at RFM truly wants harm to come to any young person serving as a pest to those who don't want to hear about the wonderful church.

Genuis Level, EOD!

Elder rapid-fire may very well be now transferred to Provo to finish serving out his two year conviction (to cojkolds-doublebind) after this hospital stay. Less brown folk.

Once transferred and sacrament meetings resume, what a fath promoting resource he'll be.

The Holy Temple Garments, preserved him for this single monumental reason, don'tyaknow.

It's ”closed" to shooters and fools on the outside, not the inside. Why should outsiders have access? Closed and "closed" are interchangeable.

Should it be OPEN for anybody?
Just because someone can't lock it?
That's ridiculous!

"Elder M.F. of Dayton, Ohio, and two other missionaries are with a group of people at the Birmingham Stake Center in Vestavia Hills when a stranger enters the building on Friday night. I was there. After interacting with the individual, Elder M.F. was shot multiple times and the shooter escaped. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he had surgery. No other injured.

“As of Monday afternoon, Elder M.F.'s condition is serious, but stable and improving,” said church spokesman Sam Penrod.

In the hospital, improving. That is great news to hear.

I do hope that the lds church will provide the funds that this Elder who was shot will get all the treatments and recovery/ rehab that he needs. They got their 100 billion rainy day fund and this missionary who was shot had a rainy day. I hope that he will make full recovery.

Yes they still have that rule, also the one about not being permitted to travel with another woman.
