The whole BoM is built around the repeated story of "...they did not keep God’s commandments and they do bad things and they are destroyed.”

That, of course, makes you wonder why places like Berlin, Pyongyang and Moscow are still around when they were the seats of power that did lots of bad things. It wasn't God that bombed the hell out of those places when they did not keep God's commandments. But they're rebuilt and still here.
