That didn't go well, did it?

Hate that pass in the winter. Has it's own weather system. Once, in a December, in a snowstorm, was crossing and a UPS tractor trailer lost it on a left turn. Slow motion wreck into the mountainside (which is better than going over the cliff). Went around after we saw the driver was safe, and continued on. The pass was closed for over two hours while the wreckers came to get the rig out of there. The trailer was toast.

I thought you were strictly rail, Dave. You still have your Class A? The industry is desperate for drivers!

Driver died and I still have class A CDL with every endorsement.

Things that turn my head: 1) blue strobes 2) tap-tap of a diesel (I have old loyalties to Detroit Diesels 3) Big knobby tires (but NOT monster trucks).

My BIL was supposed to take a different road to my aunt's house and he missed the turn. At least it Was September instead of winter.

Yeah that is a fun Pass. Red Mountain can be a doozy too.

When I was a kid we pulled over one night in the VW camper on the way to Chama, NM; in the morning I woke up and -- whoa! -- we had pulled over right on that overlook. Needless to say this dirt farmer was impressed with the view.
