My old girlfriend lived a few blocks from there.

Yes. Barnes and Noble is on the corner there. I am not aware of any broken locations. Everything seems firmly attached to the ground. The art galleries may be more loosely attached to reality.

I was familiar with it decades ago.Area where I grew up. Where by the time I was 15 I knew I didn't want to live in SLC the rest of my life.

Some talk of another high school reunion in Sugarhouse Park. I doubt I'll go.

I ride my bike through there sometimes on my way up to parleys canyon and east mill creek, lots of construction gray condos in the sky, and certainly not the space to handle the amount of congestion that is going to happen once everyone moves in.

What does this mean? It's a well known intersection. Aren't you a private investigator or something?

I went to Irving Junior High, which has now been turned into an apartment complex.

I would never live in that apartment complex. The walls have been soaking up middle school misery for years.

I wonder what "Irving" IJHS was named for.

Mebbe Washington Irving.

As far as I know, no other public place in SLC is named after Irving.

That lands you in Sugarhouse. It used to be the place to be if your wanted to buy furniture.

there also used to be a prison there, where they locked up polygamist men.

There musta been a sugar factory there too once upon a time.

There was indeed a sugar factory there. In fact it was on the corner of 1100 E and 2100 S.

Yup. My great, great grandfather did some time in it for practicing polygamy. I have a picture of him standing in front of the prison gate in his convict striped uniform. The prison was where the park is now.

I just went back through past satellite images on Google Earth and don't see any stake centers anywhere near there.

Can you upload the pic you found to imgur?
