She is making money off her books. She looks likes she likes money and status.
If you are married to an old man like she is, that could be a challenge.
If your a professional career woman or you were a professional career women that could be a problem with the top brethren.
As she tries to change the inner workings of the Church that could be a problem for her too. She did teach at a very liberal university in Canada. so I am sure she has some issues she would like to change in the Church.
The biggest problem is this. Her husband is married and sealed for all time and eternity to his first wife and she is number two wife. That has to suck being Wendy. I was told by some temple workers that Rusty was lonely after the death of his first wife and that was why he got married. (In my books that is the wrong reason) I had a temple sealer tell me recently that her husband believed "that it is not good for man to be alone." That might add some stress knowing he got married because he did not like being alone.
I did attend a meeting is Edmonton, Alberta a few years ago. Wendy and her husband spoke. She did say in the meeting that she received a spiritual confirmation that she was to marry Rusty (no labels after his talk the past Sunday). Of course she did not say what that experience was. She also shared that Rusty did get up at night with his lighted pen and pencil and wrote stuff down and also sent her out of the room.
I saw a picture of the large headstone that Rusty has at the grave of his deceased wife. It was made from the SLT granite. Her name will be on it, so she should be impressed.

Having said all of the above, based on what I saw last Sunday, I do not think she is happy. I think she looks very angry inside. The way she talked was not loving and caring. So who knows. Only Rusty and God.

She probably feels trapped. I used to live where quit a few church leaders lived. Most their wives didn’t seem happy. Maybe when you get to the top you find there is nothing there but how do you get out without completely upending your life?

Brainwashing is a powerful thing. Even if a prophet came clean and said it was bullshit the congregation would call the prophet fallen.

She sure likes to be in every photo-op with Rusty, whenever possible. And since when did the profit’s wives go on the speaking circuit with their “time-and-all-eternity” husbands?

Am I not remembering correctly? Did other Mormon First Ladies go on as a warm up act for hubby?

She seems ambitious and he obviously needs a handler being so old.

She's in an organization that keeps her from the top position since she is female, so being his side kick is as close to the top as she can get.

If it weren't a misogynistic organization that prevents women having top power spots, my guess is she would have been bucking for GA spots herself.

I seriously doubt that Wendy feels trapped. She hasn't put in anywhere near the time most of the prophets' wives had to devote prior to reaching her present stature.

I think, when talking about Mrs. Russell Nelson, that one should remember that she had some very lopsided views about sex and male/female relationships before she evered married him. At the moment, I'm of the opinion that no matter how unhappy she is with him (or he with her), those two really do deserve each other.

I agree. A more competent bride for Frankenstein was never made. They will make monsters of Mormons. I still remember his hating on unconditional love talk. Christ is a zombie and a statue in his world.

Either Wendy is still a virgin, or Rusty downs a handful of Viagra (only for procreation purposes, of course).
That might be the source of his nocturnal revelations. Hmmm.

Her family background in the corral cleaning/shit hauling business will always be relevant.

    Oh, sure, there will be the obligatory 'tell-all' book, in which she discusses their sex life and hints at who the biggest suck-ups were, and how she and Sheri were the real power behind the throne (ID'ing Sheri as her 'girlfriend' and setting off a clamor (clamour in England and Arrondissement-19) regarding their definition of 'girlfriend' ...

    But once that furor has subsided, will Wendy ever be a public speaker again, other than F&TM?  And on those monthly occasions, when she comes up to the lectern, the bishop is going to be seen putting an agile finger on the mic's kill switch and the 1st counselor, a body-builder called for just this purpose, will check the laces on his 'carry-the-crazy-broad-outta-here' shoes.

    Yes, folks, the future of the mormon church is going to be fun to watch, for those of us inured to the havoc caused by the mormon church's brand of 'Money is the Root of my Paycheck' Christianity.
