A recent widow with 6 kids and has a penchant for making penis cakes has several suitors…

6 kids though? These men will be taking care of 6 kids that aren’t theirs.

What am I missing?

Did I mention that this woman made a penis cake at a bachelorette party?

My brother married a woman with ten kids, all but one out of the house at the time. I know several coworkers who married women with six to eight kids. It’s not particularly rare in Utah. The ages of the children and child support from ex are also relevant, and not specified in this thread.

As for thedesertrat1, at his age, his fixation on sex is what I would describe as aspirational, to put it mildly.

If the father died, then each child should get a Social Security payout each month. So a lot of the financial aspects would be taken care of. Housing that many kids would still be an issue, though.

All of the kids are minors.

Did I tell you that she made a penis cake? That’s her sense of humor?

He lost companionship and is trying to fill that void with his penis. I find it sad.

Henry the eighth I am, I am
I got married to the widow next door
She's been married seven times before

And every one was an Henry (Henry)
She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam (no Sam)
I'm her eighth old man, I'm Henry
Henry the eighth I am

It used to be having a lot of children was an asset if you owned farms or ranches. The children were cheap labor. In a modern urban environment children are a liability. They cost more than they put back into the pot. It’s why people avoid having children these days.

The Mormon family model really is based on the old agricultural economy. Farming is what most the early Mormons did. You got more cheap labor with more kids and the church grew. It was a sustainable model in the old days but in modern times it’s a disaster.

This family is in poverty.

She’s looking for a dummy, I mean a husband, to take care of her and her gaggle of kids.

What's the problem? Is the government a better option?

Having some self-respect is a better option.

Waiting until the kids are adults is a better option so she’s not bringing a stranger into her children’s lives.

Grieving instead of dating is a good option too. Her ex-husband died recently.

"These men will be taking care of 6 kids that aren’t theirs."

Not their's, the shame of it all. All step parents should be ashamed of themselves

One of the great things about humans is their ability to form attachment bonds to people with whom they are not consanguineous.

You are right: that should be celebrated.

It should be celebrated… if the men doing it weren’t doing it because of a cult or looking good to this cult.

You can’t just untangle these men potentially providing for these kids from Mormonism.

You should know, doing good is like extra credit. You’re not doing it entirely because it’s the right thing to do. You want to get something back in return.

i understand your point, but no one does anything for entirely disinterested reasons.

So unless some man marries a woman with multiple children and then abuses or neglects them, I'd rather focus on the admirable aspects of the choice.
