Wow. This is a great thread to see a lot of folks from earlier on. So nice to see you all. Glad you're all still kicking. We've had a lot of epic posters through the years.
Well goddamn! I've been out of the cult 25 years and just thought I would stop by tonight. Fancy seeing you here. I definitely remember you from the old days.
because I've also reduced my bulletin board presence. I remember our lunch time meet ups and hearing about how you learned Mormonism was bogus while serving as a mission president and how Jeffrey Holland attempted to take you under his wing. I remember you telling us that Holland described himself as an "iron rodder."
Anyway, so glad you're enjoying a "Mormonless lifestyle!"
Oh wow...so great to see so many familiar and memorable names from the time I spent here - roughly 1999 - 2003. This place was a lifeline for me: finding people I could talk openly and honestly with while sorting through all the things I was learning about the church. I got a lot of great advice: go slow, don't antagonize your friends and family if you want to hang on to them, etc.
I've been out 20+ years. Married a hot nevermo wife of 10 years. She's exposed me to so many things culturally I never would have seen or experienced on the inside. I've chosen my own path in life, rather than followed one that was laid out for me. I cringe to think where I would have be had I stayed.
Thanks to all of those who influenced and shared their thoughts while I was here - Nightingale, Dimmesdale, SLdrone, Bob McCue, and many, many others.
Yes, I'm still here (and I wasn't even BIC so what's to "get over", right?). :P
And yes, it's lovely to see all the familiar names from the years.
This discussion board has been so much more interesting, informative and fun than anything I experienced in Mormonism. I thought I must be really wicked to sit in the meetings with that old chorus running through my head: "Is that all there is?" Because Boring was my impression at the time and enduring memory overall. And repetitive. Same old, same old. And it was dull the first time.
It's always great to hear that ex-members are forging their own path and enjoying the results.
Hi--great to see you again. I remember your many great posts. Nice to see other from my early RFM days here as well. Coming up on the 20th anniversary of finding this great forum.
This thread makes me happy. Posting a slightly modified version of the message I was given prior to my mission..
"If you want to reach people, if you want to change hearts, if you want to be successful in your missionary work, testify of the INCORRECTNESS of the Book of Mormon."
Hello stranger!! Some of us lurk in the background now and then still. Nice to see your name, and those of many old-timers replying to you SL Drone. My first visit here was '97 or '98, I think? Lots of water under that bridge.
Hey there SLDrone....waz up? Seeing you here and the accompanying posts remind me of my 50 yr class reunion at Piedmont High I went to last Thursday night. I thought it interesting that everyone decided to send their parents, in lieu.
In other words, good to see your heart's still ticking!
Oh, and must not forget Susan I/S and Montana to Rice!!!
You better be watching the game tomorrow! This new QB is interesting but there will never be another 16 to 80. On two or four feet. You sweet thing you :)
This post made me think of a Cr@ig P@xton - he was posting when I first found this group back in 2004ish. He had just discovered the truth and his wife was not being helpful. I remember following his story as it developed.
three or four years ago we met up with Cr@ig P@xton for lunch and had fun catching up. Brother Paxton was in good shape and enjoying exmo life.
FYI, Paxton happened to be in Sydney, Australia (Paxton served his mission in Oz) about ten years ago as was I, so Simon helped set up a fun exmo dinner and social for us. Gotta love those Down Under Exmos!
Wow! How great to see all these names on here from the past. I've been here since my daughter was in high school and she is living the life now, married to a man who has barely heard of Mormons and has a fulfilling career and two adorable children. All cult free!!
I thank you all for your support and wisdom during those years of navigating our exit from the cult. My grandchildren will never have to suffer the consequences of having been raised in the cult.
I am mostly recovered and have received news that my home ward has closed its doors recently. I lived to see the day!!
Life is so much better cult free. I could go on and on but again thank you.
That day has come and gone, as has the knight... [I check in just to see if they are cashed]
Now it's just for any - moremany - news, changes, additions, subtractions, divisions, LDS suits, up in arms, sacreligiousments, punishments, excommunicated saints, jokes, lost souls, people hungry, or needing a lift!
Not recovery. Just fun! That's what I was created for, and it's also why I recreate myself expressively. For reflexivity. Dexterity.
Hey SAINTS! Even those who ain't...
How are you?
M@t out west to pass the test for only the best! I created the test though, I must confess.
10 years! Ears to Ears. All eyes but only one I!
AKA moremany, mormonomore, ufutofu, and I See you all in ten years, or tomorrow, if I'm in If I'm out all you have to do is shout!
