Wow - wonder how much this happens and we don't hear about it? Truly saddening. Wonder what kind of sentence this son beater is going to get?

I remember missionaries saying that they were promised a car when they returned, but nothing violent like this.

But don't forget the emotional violence, the extreme pressure and threats, etc. I am sure a lot of posters on this board were "abused" before and during their missions.

Even if it was by themselves, with a rotary phone!

"Hello, Telephone Company?"

"You again?"

"Sorry, but--"

"--yeah, we know--"

"--it's all gummed up and is really tough to dial."

"Have you thought about getting a mobile phone, Mr. Zeus?"

I remember the bumper sticker that read,

"Why should I go on a mission? I already have a car."

A lot of these young people even committing suicide to get out of a mission. You pay for it yourself, no privacy, probably get abused by your mission President, sleep in a place with no heat or AC, in a crime ridden area, no one caring about you, etc. They're so desperate, they even changed the age on going on a mission. I'm so thankful that I was a convert and didn't grow up in the church, since birth.

"In April, Warner and his attorneys filed a motion to have his case dismissed, arguing that Warner acted in self-defense and that it was the son who attacked him first."

The Duke Men's Lacrosse team did not comment.

Years ago the church leaders used to cheer these- My house is in order- you either live the gospel or get out!

It was the underlying tone that men were supposed to lay down the law and rebellious children were encouraged to leave.

Used to hear a lot of this at ph meetings.

Does anyone think this beater is going to state prison for 5 years?
