Hmmmmm, maybe you are right. But did the pennies we threw in all go to Primary Children's Hospital? Searching my memory banks and still thinking it was ZCMI, but we did eat at Auerbach's too. Very long time ago.
We took our kids there when they were young (about 30 years ago). That was their favorite place to eat - even more than McDonald's. Breakfast with Santa was the best part of the holiday season!
Quilted patch western shirt ala John Denver - Baliwick Zickmees 1975 - Christmas present from my hip older sister. Wore it to play gigs at the Terrace Ballroom and Labor Day Rodeo Days Dance in Evanston Wyoming.
Flash forward and my son wore it to 70's day at his high school and won best costume.
ZCMI -Swedish Knit Polyester Suit - Froze to death wearing it tracting above the artic circle, and it pulled all the hair out of my legs below the Gs.
In October 1999, as a result of losses for two consecutive years, along with mounting economic and social pressures, ZCMI was sold to May Department Stores Company of St. Louis, ZCMI operated under its original name as a part of May's Portland-based Meier & Frank division until April 2002, when the stores adopted the Meier & Frank name. In addition to the name change, the Utah stores in Logan and St. George, along with the Idaho stores in Idaho Falls and Pocatello, were sold to Dillard's in March 2001. May Co. was sold to Federated Department Stores (now Macy's, Inc.) in 2005. In September 2006, all Meier & Frank stores were converted to Macy's.[9]
