Were there any children or descendants of the 50 or so wives that Joseph Smith or Brigham Young had in their time?i know there are descendants of both Joseph and Brighams first and legal marriages.I was listening to a podcast by John Dehlin with Sandra Tanner.She said she is a descendant of Brighams first wife.

Those are fascinating charts.

The myth that polygamy was about marrying the widows might have had its beginnings with Brigham, although no one mentions that a large number of the widows were Joe Smith's.

I don't know which wife of BY was the mother (not that it matters genetically, "which wife number" is just a matter of human paperwork), but one of his daughter's was a founding board member of First Unitarian of SLC about 1890.

Even then, not all was well in Zion.

My sister in Sandy lived two and three doors down from a Jeffs and his two wives. They all had left FLDSism, but the guy had two families, and the two wives, incidentally, did not care much for each other. What exactly was he supposed to do? Abandon one family?

It did make for entertaining neighborhood gossip in my sister's very LDS 'hood.
