Elevator music.

It's bland, irritating, and borrowed from somewhere else.

How about instead of theme songs... dedications!

I'd like to dedicate these:

Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - The Spin Doctors
F*** You (Very Much) - Miley Lynn

Even if you’re a true believer, if this song doesn’t make you smile, you’re dead inside.

Camille Saint-Saens Dance Macabre comes to mind during this Halloween month. My mother used to play it on the record player every Halloween.

Although I really enjoy Dance Macabre, it stirs up feelings of dread/fear/melancholy/hopelessness I felt so often as a Mormon. I dreaded fast Sunday, saying prayers in class, interviews with the bishop, giving talks, teaching class, and the biggest dread of all, entering the MTC for the first time and realizing what I'd gotten myself into for the next 18 months, a dread that stayed with me till my mission finally ended.

For a church that claims to be the only true church, the Mormon church sure creates a lot of discomfort and uneasy feelings.

I'd nominate "The Last Resort," by the Eagles, especially the last verse and especially the following lines:

"We satisfy our endless needs
And justify our bloody deeds
In the name of destiny
And in the name of God."

You can see them there on Sunday morning, stand and sing about what it's like up there. They call it Paradise, I don't know why, kiss it goodbye .
Where the pretty people play, hungry for power.
I love that song

This won't top the suggestion by Elder Berry of every song from the Broadway production "Book of Mormon," but "If I could hie to kolob" seems to tick a lot of relevant boxes:

mentions a planet that non-LDS think is wacky

sounds like a funeral dirge

is almost sci-fi-like (appeals to the Star Trek fans?)

mentions the curtains (thinking of the Temple veil) and

concludes, repeatedly, with the words

"there is no end..."

O'Lord, it's hard to be humble.

I've got tears in my ears from lying on my back and crying over you.

I have discovered Nick Cave during "Peaky Blinders"

This reminds me of the temple Oaths.
