Except that the Mormon understanding of Jesus Christ is based on pure fantasy made up by Joseph Smith. There were no Nephites and Lamanites in real life because their origin story is impossible. On the other hand, the Mayans and Aztecs were real and left real evidence.

The Aztecs were well known for their ceremonial use of a mushroom they called "flesh of the Gods" while Dead Sea Scrolls scholar John Allegro (author of The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross) believed that Christianity arose from a psychedelic mushroom cult. There could be a connection there.

Jesus is a Greek hero. His father was a god and his mother was a mortal. Hercules had a mortal mother and Zeus for a father. This combination gave him superhuman powers. Jesus had powers too.
