The Big Lebowski - a movie - shows proof Jesus likes Bowling.

I saw it and it is true. I have a Testimony of it.

In a Mexican restaurant in California the menu lists which choices are Jesus' favorites.
Not only that, it turns out Jesus owns the place!

Jesus is absolutely "a thing." In fact, I am writing a biography of him as we speak.

It's provisionally entitled "The Thing from North Disneyland" and my agent is already in negotiations with Clive Barker over the film rights.

We inquired but he says he's too busy working in sports psychology and doesn't have time for popular entertainment anymore.

Who would've thought? A Latino on a golf course.

I just finished Barker's Coldheart Canyon. Not sure what I think of it. I need to read it again at least once.

Good luck on the book and movie, but knowing you as I do, luck has nothing to do with your success.

My reply was based on zillers reply on the going to the moon post.

But now that you mention it, if jesus is "a thing", does that make the movie "The Thing" starring Kurt Russell a movie about jesus? I would hate to see you accused of plagiarism.

Okay, maybe you're right.

I think I'll change the title to "The Blob from North Disneyland." That way there'll be no accusations of copyright infringement.

Good call, and a much better title given the subject matter. And since Cheech isn't available, I may know a guy from the board.....in fact you may know him too!

Should the need arise to cast 'Jesus' as the class clown with a heart of condoms . . .

That wouldn't work. No one could possibly confuse you for Jesus, Jesus.

>>My reply was based on zillers reply on the going to the moon post.

I saw that post and couldn't figure out if he was jerking our chain or what. He doesn't "believe" in evolution, so maybe he's serious.

After moon landing denial, what might be next? Flat Earth? LOL.

Thankfully I can't (or I should say won't bother) to figure out half his posts.

Some Mormons think so...

This article will teach you about the similarities between Aztec and Mayan creator gods and the Mormon understanding of Jesus Christ.

https://owlcation.com/humanities/Is-Quetzalcoatl-the-Mormons-Jesus-Christ

Both the Mayan and the Aztec people believe in a Descending or Diving God. He was known as Kukulcan, the Feathered Serpent, among the Mayans and as Quetzalcoatl among the Aztecs. These ancient people believed that He was the creator God, that He was born of a virgin, that He raised the dead, that He healed by the laying on of hands, and that He would return. The first record of a Feathered Serpent being worshiped was during the 1st century AD.

"This article will teach you about the similarities between Aztec and Mayan creator gods and the Mormon understanding of Jesus Christ."

Except that the Mormon understanding of Jesus Christ is based on pure fantasy made up by Joseph Smith. There were no Nephites and Lamanites in real life because their origin story is impossible. On the other hand, the Mayans and Aztecs were real and left real evidence.

The Aztecs were well known for their ceremonial use of a mushroom they called "flesh of the Gods" while Dead Sea Scrolls scholar John Allegro (author of The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross) believed that Christianity arose from a psychedelic mushroom cult. There could be a connection there.

Hey, it's more plausible than FAIR.

I’m normally a lurker but I fancied having a go at ziller’s somewhat silly, but possibly honest question. I think that the name ‘Issa’ is the equivalent in some Middle Eastern/Arabic cultures, and Yeshua is the Hebrew name for the Greek ‘Jesus’.

Could be true. You have never, ever met a Jew named Jesus..., much less Jesus Christ.

that proves it.

If you roll matzo flat and bake it on a hot griddle, you might have a tortilla.

In the new World Jesus ate Fry Bread with those pesky Lamanites.

Jesus is a Greek hero. His father was a god and his mother was a mortal. Hercules had a mortal mother and Zeus for a father. This combination gave him superhuman powers. Jesus had powers too. He could heal the sick and cast out demons. Hercules could re-direct a river to flush out the horseshit from the Augean stables.

The New Testament was originally written in Greek. Sometimes it's simpler than it first appears.
