"Al povero mancano tante cose, all'avaro tutte."

In my Italian studies this morning I happened on that phrase:

The poor man is lacking many things, the greedy man all.

And what are the church leader's but greedy? For money? I suppose. But more for adulation. Greedy to feel superior. Greedy to be dignitaries. Greedy to be the "haves" who in their greed do not realize that what they have is nothing. They have destroyed themselves. Greedy to be seen as the way and the light when all they have to offer is darkness and pain.

Happiness comes from exploration. Anything else leads to stagnation. Can you think of a better example of stagnation than General Conference, brothers and sisters?

The Mormon church is a swamp.

Bottom line:

“Detras de la cruz está el Diablo.”

(And everyone seems to have a fuckin’ cross to bear. Beware.)

I love this. So appropriate for La Pascua.

I didn't want to start a thread and this bit of information, which is probably known to those who like to get down and dirty with church data, but it won't hurt just to glance at it.

https://widowsmitereport.wordpress.com/us-land/

This is an attempt to track the church's landholding here in the USofA.

I've been told that for years and years, the church has been buying land outside of the USofA.  I'm not aware that anyone has attempted to tally what that acreage might be.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled swamp...

Nebraska is awfully high. What's the story there--cropland?

A bit O.T., I was surprised that Bill Gates came down towards the bottom of the list. I'd heard he's the largest private owner of farmland in the US.

The distinction is apparently between agricultural land and land in general. As you note, Gates is widely reported to own more farm land than anyone else but that may not be the case for land in general.

The church owns a very large ranch in western Nebraska, near Scottsbluff or Pilot Butte.

ETA: there is no Pilot Butte, NE. Must be near Scottsbluff.

ETA 2: Chimney Rock is what I was thinking of, which is near Scottsbluff.

They also have a large farm in Brazil, and holdings in Australia and Canada. I would not be at all surprised if they had land in the Philippines, various other Central and South American countries, especially Mexico and Argentina, and maybe even West Africa

It's all about the greed and their love of adulation; they live a hollow life, in reality. How do they convince themselves to embrace their power and privilege at the expense of everyone below them? They must hold fast to their delusions or their house of cards would literally come crashing down.

Cuz X

Do they ever lose sleep as Generation Alpha quietly slips through their money-grubbing fingers?
