Perhaps it is the news or the state of the world but now I keep hearing "Who will survive, who will survive, not one of us will be alive"

Over and over. That then melds into "Jimmy oh Jimmy don't listen to them...how can they say their your friends?"

It goes on and on.

What a crazy musical. Inflicting annoying memories decades later.

“Turn it off, like a lightbulb”. Go listen to the cast album from Book of Mormon.

That's terrible music too.

Can't stand musicals.

I LOVED the book of mormon musical. It was great to see all of those people in the audience show up with their missionary tags. I gave my missionary tag away years ago to my downstairs neighbor who was auditioning for the BOM musical. He got 2 call backs but eventually didn't get the part. I suppose the mojo from my old badge had no effect.

My roommate at BYU Hawaii played the Saturday's Warrior cassette tapes over and over. It was all she played. Sometimes she sang along. Drove me crazy. "We all have daddy's nose!" Barf. I had to leave the room and study in the hallway.

Looking back, this situation would be a musical hell. I remember being on my mission and the only stuff we could listen to was mormon crap. All of the time. It still haunts me decades later.

reading the lyrics you guys posted didn't even ring a bell. Probably my memory problems!!! I'm too stressed lately and I can't remember a lot of things like old music, although I still have the album as my mother bought it for me.

Lex DeAzevedo's daughter is a wild child tattoo artist. She did my "falling bison" ink on my right shoulder. It's a long story but represents my acceptance of science and fact over superstition and mythology.

Who are these children coming down?

Coming down... Far a way from mythic lies
With knowledge trailing from their feet as they go
the promise of more science in their eyes...

I read somewhere that Lex DeAzevedo's brother is gay. And I think he played the part of Jimmy Flinders in the original BYU production.

I sure hope he hasn't been cast out from the rest of his family. I don't know anything about the DeAzevedos. They do seem to be a talented bunch.

I never took the missionary discussions but learned about the morg dogmas from those two musicals. Oh and also a third one, The Quest. I learned the lyrics by heart due to hearing them all the time.

I'm glad I no longer have them in my head.

Takeaway, you can't disagree with friends in Mormonism.

These songs were not solemn enough for righteous worship according to my mission president. They were specifically forbidden.

Heck, I even had Mo-Tab singing popular secular X-mas music and those were confiscated by the prick!

Wow. Hardcore. You had the next level self righteous pricks to deal with.

Yeah, he was such an asshat.

And I was stupid in believing that I could ever get right with him. From not enough baptisms to being myself.

I had a tape copy Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture that included the MTC doing the rare choral parts. I was told mid-mission that I could only listen to the choral parts. SMH.

Yeah we had some very ridiculous rules. I had SW, My Turn on Earth, even a cover of Janice Kapp Perry's "In the Hollow of Thy Hand" but wasn't allowed to listen to anything but MoTab hymns...not even the tapes with our film strip "movies" like "I'll build you a Rainbow" "First Vision" version of hymns We thank thee o'God for a prophet.

Listen to "Hi Ren" https://youtu.be/s_nc1IVoMxc

that'll cure any earwig; and everyone finds something different, useful in it.

Oh, great. Now I can't get the title song out of my mind.

When a certain Supreme Court decision came down, I remembered "Zero population is the answer, my friend."

Hey, I made a connection to Mormonism. Hope this doesn't get removed.

Thanks, Susan. I was afraid of getting Rick-rolled, but that was a great song.

I have to admit I don't know a lot of bands, and I'm frequently introduced to great bands that were HUGE and I totally missed them because I just don't seek out new music.

It was used in a vid from Ukraine and I liked it so much I figured out what it was. I love that style of music. Have you heard of Rag 'n Bone Man? This is his "breakout" song but I think all of his stuff is great.
