I did not know she was ill. Since he was excused from church assignments during the spring, I thought he was seriously ill. Perhaps her illness was sudden and unexpected.
Did anyone in the church think about how many other members have recently lost spouses? Is Holland so special that the church body has to especially mourn for him?
Her death was on my local news in SE Idaho. Heck, even half the Mormons here don't know who the prophet is, let alone the wife of some apostle minion.
We have had people die locally who were actually known and loved. They didn't get on the news. I can only guess which rears the ownership of our local TV stations kiss.
Perhaps she so enjoyed her free time while Jeff was hospitalized that, upon his release, she found she couldn't take it...
Maybe she just knew that this way, the next time she sees him, he'll be all better and back to being the man she married ... versus the man the church turned him into.
Why not Patricia Terry Holland, wife of Jeffrey R.Holland passed away......? She is the one who died and she should be the focus of the article.
