Interesting AI implementation. People are okay with tv preachers. They don't need personal contact to be inspired. Why not a robot?

OMM-1 from "THX-1138" (1971)
https://youtu.be/U0YkPnwoYyE

“My time is yours, go ahead. Proceed."

“I understand. Could you be more specific?"

“You are a true believer, blessings of the State, blessings of the masses. Thou art a subject of the divine, created in the image of man, by the masses, for the masses.”

“Work hard, increase production, prevent accidents and be happy.”

“Let us be thankful we have commerce. Buy more. Buy more now. Buy. And be happy.”

I don't think so. A preacher has to speak of the current times in ways that match the most fear-mongering scriptures. And we're not there yet. Because besides monitoring the fringe elements that drive the current events (meaning the language and how they're talked about) and the fear, that also collects the most racism and bigotry which would be turned against the congregation by current AI.

Also occurs to me that the religious would have a problem with the robot lacking a soul. That lacking a soul it can't teach you about salvation because it doesn't understand it, can't achieve it, and doesn't care where you end up when you die.

And the apostles care?

Oh probably not. But the average member can think so since they think they are also just the same as the apostles are.

er... Can't AI 'teach it' to pretend to have a soul with widely varying outcomes - results?

A robot could write the sermons, many preachers use pre written sermons anyway.

A robot could search, correlate and organise data.

A robot could clean the chapel!

A robot could write letters of condolences.

So maybe as a deacon but not as a bishop.

No.

Can a robot or AI chatbot relate its experience overcoming weakness, sin, and temptation? That's what makes a real preacher so much more interesting, as opposed to a Mormon bishop. My favorite people have actually had an interesting life. They went to jail, did drugs, or went a little "wild" when they were younger. A Mormon bishop rarely has anything interesting to talk about. They grew up in a Mormon home, got baptised, went to seminary, went on a mission, got married while still at BYU and had a bunch of children. Talk to one, you've basically talked to all of them. Might as well be talking to a chatbot.

The worst part is that a Mormon bishop cannot relate to the real people in the congregation. They have no idea how to grow as a human being because they rarely have any experience that doe not involve growing up in Mormonism. That's not growth. That's a cookie cutter life.

The Mormon template of worthiness is as little more beneficial to humanity as a machine programmed to promote comfort and conformity for the human condition.

The elders of the church create a robot missionary force to tempt humanity with promises of glory and family unity of not here, in their hereafter.

Mormonism started with mystery and is protracted in its long billions of dollars march towards being no better than AI chatbot inspired spiritually.

Ironically, via speech writers Mormon leaders have led this move into mashups of other's words to inspire their people. They are the original makers of mediocre content bolstered by the words sans thoughts of others.

The robot might give a better quality sermon, but in most Christian churches, members want that human touch. They want someone to laugh with them and cry with them through life's highs and lows.

Precisely, Summer!

But Mormon leaders see & speak thru Rose Colored Glasses;

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Think No Evil at least in their own lives so they can be Shining Examples to the Sheeple

Considering that pricey financial advisers charge 1% of the customer's assets that they manage and if robo-religions were to do the same, many LDS will enjoy the cost-savings from the 10% tithing they are used to paying to ChurchCo.

Was it Andy Griffith show where the human pastor leaves first to go stand outside the main church door to glad-hand the Parishers as they leave (good weather only)?

Naw, only a few will notice the difference between a bot & a human...

A few say 'Excellent Sermon' to the pastor / priest / minister as they leave but their sincerity is a ?
