Blood-brain barrier won't help here

"The blood vessels that vascularize the central nervous system (CNS) possess unique properties, termed the blood–brain barrier, which allow these vessels to tightly regulate the movement of ions, molecules, and cells between the blood and the brain."

It won't prevent this worm from crossing into the brain. There are a number of other things that can cross the BBB.

Hence things like Acanthamoeba ("brain-eating amoeba"), cysticercosis and echinococcosis (tapeworm larvae that cause cystic lesions in the brain), brain abscesses from bacterial infections, neurosyphilis, or viral meningoencephalitis, etc.
