Jeffrey R. Holland has been called to serve as Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He received the official appointment and was set apart by Church President Russell M. Nelson on November 15, 2023, succeeding the late Acting President M. Russell Ballard, who died on November 12, 2023.

Some guy who calls himself Jesus from Las Vegas who faithfully peruses the BYU Alumni mag obituaries isn't picking up his telephone.

Rumor has it that the church is going to play it safe by calling someone who really doesn't believe, attend church, but plays a great game of golf.

Nelson has mistakenly uttered these words when no one was listening, "Whoever we pick, it doesn't matter because the church is in the crapper. Dallin Oaks is next in line to be president of the (FKA) Mormon Church.

It goes strictly by seniority among the apostles. The active president of the Q12 is just the most senior apostle who isn’t in the first presidency.

To clarify: Nelson is not only the president of the church, but he’s also the president of the Q12. Since Russ is busy doing prophet things, the Q12 needs an “acting” president.

The acting president position has nothing to do with who is in line to be God’s chosen one.

Nope - to clarify, the president of the Q12 is the most senior apostle after the church president, which is currently Oaks, But as Oaks is in the 1st presidency, Holland is acting.

I stand (or sit) corrected.

Oaks is the president of the Q12, and is next in line to be the beloved prophet. If Holland wants the top job, he’ll have to outlive Oaks.

TSCC was playing “Survivor” long before any network executive ever thought of it.

Holland won’t last long.

Apparently Russ wants members to believe that all those positions are essential for the goals of ChurchCo to function day-to-day; from that standpoint it was a good decision.

They choose their Presidents like they choose their wives.

So Holland can have a bonus to pay some off his medical bills? Or maybe everything gets paid if you are a apostle.

Yesterday Holland got out and rededicated the St George temple.

He must have recuperated at his home.

There was a picture taken of him and he looked well; even had a smile (the best he can).

Did any living or deceased celebs appear at St. George?

Unmitigated disappointment if none stopped by even just for a cameo!

It's a bit like whack-a-mole; no actual thinking or consideration is needed.

Maybe someday someone for a top job will be confirmed/ordained and soon afterwards to be disclosed to have previously done some awful, hurtful conduct; What to do then?

Is it just me or has Holland gone downhill since his wife died?

A number of men don't do well without their wives. It's not unusual.
