I have no idea what course your friend is taking, but I'm going to guess that it was her choice to take it, and to continue with it.

You simply can't discuss the painting without noting its anti-war theme. If your friend is not interested in art where feminism or other topics are the concern of the artist, why is she taking this course? There are plenty of other art history courses that she could take.
