The corporation wants to build another temple near Las Vegas.

The folks in the neighborhood, sparsely populated, no traffic lights, no gutters or sidewalks, says the temple violates city code.

Corporation doesn't cate and wants a 210 foot high monstrosity lit up all night built smack dab in the middle of these folks.

The excuse the stake president gave for the new temple.

His 3000 members don't want to be inconvenienced by driving across town.

The church has too much GD money with nothing to do but go buy their way into neighborhoods where they are not wanted.

I wish the church would just become a holding company but there are some tax advantages being a church and they love manipulating the people dumb enough to stay in.

Why on Earth does Las Vegas need two temples? The church authorities have lost their minds.

It will be three stories high. It sounds like it will be a behemoth in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

That could be a prerequisite.

Who remembers those old Golden Questions?

What do you know about the Mormon Church?
Would you like to know more?

The golden questions have been replaced by the Golden Statement:

Like it or not you're getting a temple in you neighborhood!

Isn’t it wonderful isn’t it marvellous churchco has adopted the Ray Croc philosophy of temples and fast food joints...what busy Vegas mormon doesn’t want to stop in for a quick endowment after a hectic day of the grind...the traffic...fifteen minutes on the couch in the celestial room just makes living in Vegas seem to make so much sense in a world gone crazy...if churchco can intimidate a few plebes with their mighty legal powers...well that’s just fun with the might of money behind you...suck it up gentiles if you don’t like it ...move!...well leave the lights on for ya

I think the church has a long plan to have newer temples in a metroplex area so the church can close one for repairs, renovations and possible repurposing of the lot. For example, if a location becomes less than favorable then it won't be a big deal to move to the other one.

The current LV temple was completed in 1989. It's 35 years old.

The Cathedral is nine hundred years old.

I shudder to think what the Mormons would do to that if they ever acquired it.

lds inc. should copy the sphere for the new vegas temple, just think, jaredite barges, nephite chariots, hill camorah battles (with Stalingrad statistic casualties), All projected on the sphere, now THAT would increase church curiosity among gentiles

The church is acting as if they want to make enemies.

Church authorities treat communities the same way they treat their own members -- they don't care what the "little people" want, only what they want. They are prepared to steam roller over anyone who opposes them. They could give a fig about zoning laws. They don't care. It's all about them. Mormonism, promoting narcissism ever since Joseph's day.

It's almost like they have learned to think like billionaires!

You're gonna make all the nice billionaires of the world feel bad!

It's like someone found a way to meld Petulance with ghawdhood.  Would you deny a ghawd the ability to act petulantly if that's what the ghawd wanted to do?

Is there some rule that ghawds have to be "nice" to people who don't measure up to their standards?

If you had a relationship with another person, and a ghawd came along and offered that person what you never could, but the person sorta wanted to stay with you, can't you see how it would be a good thing for the ghawd to force that person to leave you and go with the ghawd?  Wouldn't you have to agree with the ghawd when the ghawd said, "Hey, it's for the best; trust me!"

There's got to be more to being a ghawd than just omniscience and omnipotence!

If they put in pinball machines in the basement, you should know that those under the age of 18 are not allowed to use them because it is a gambling tool.
