The angel Moroni statue, trumpet firmly in place this time, was replaced on top of the east spire of the SL Temple this morning.

There goes the rumor (favored by me among others) that the statue would be replaced by a Jesus statue, as part of the Jesusification of Mormonism, and the de-emphasis of the BoM.

I guess tradition won out. That plus the fact that no other church has ever stuck a Jesus statue on their roof, as far as I am aware. Plenty of statues inside the churches, but no Jesus on the roof. Just the occasional Jewish fiddler. Though Jewish carpenter on the roof, why not? Deetle deetle dettle, deetle deetle dietle deetle dum.

Nevermos could easily assume that's a regular angel on the roof. They wouldn't know it's the Mormon angel Moroni. It could be a bond, mo leaders may think. Hey, Mormons believe in angels too. They can't be all bad. Or something like that.
