"The father of children who were abused by the "8 Passengers" blogger Ruby Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt has sued Hildebrandt for negligence and causing intentional emotional harm.

The suit alleges Hildebrandt's "severe and intolerable conduct" caused "severe" emotional distress to Kevin Franke and his children.

Both intentionally and negligently, Hildebrandt "acted with reckless disregard" and negatively impacted Franke's marriage and his children's "individual psyches, personalities and behaviors, essentially dismantling, exploding his family and personal life."

The lawsuit alleges Hildebrandt "should have known" her actions had an "unreasonable risk of causing emotional distress" that could result in illness or bodily harm or injury. The lawsuit also says Hildebrandt was negligent in her care for the children after she undertook duties and responsibilities."

I assume this means Hildebrandt had business insurance, or some assets worth going after.

There's also the question whether Kevin Franke himself was negligent. Just because some life coach told him to move out doesn't mean he was justified in leaving his kids in someone else's hands.

Talk about "reckless disregard. . ."

He had no contact for MONTHS. There is no excuse for him not doing SOMETHING to make sure that his kids were OK. He knew there had been abuse in the past when he was in the home (because he looked at porn). The oldest daughter reported and reported. He could have demanded to see the kids at any time and the Police would have seen that happened. No excuse. He does not have "clean hands" in this.

He should also sue the LDS church for encouraging her.

Correct me if this old info is wrong.

My understanding is that when Hildebrandt put her $3 Million home on the market for $5 Million, it was interrupted in order to protect assets meant to be litigated on behalf of the abused children.

Since there was no trial, lawyer fees would not have eaten up an excessive amount of the equity, leaving plenty of $$$ for the medical and psychological care of the children, and damages.

If Kevin Franke makes a case that he was a victim of Hildebrandt's bad advice, I would think he should also sue the LDS church who arranged for him and other members to be treated by her.

It's one thing to ignore the advice of your therapist; a different level of violation of trust with respect to your spiritual over"seer".

This whole scenario is next level. Apparently no drugs involved, just religion and self-righteousness. The wealth these people have is mind boggleing.
