Nothing demonstrates the arrogance of the church leadership more than the current ridiculous amount of temple construction going on and this is only the beginning of the clashes the church will have with communities who don’t want a brightly lit tacky religious building where they live.

The church is set on a course that isn’t going to end well. Most the world is not Mormon and don’t see the Mormons as special or entitled to pollute the skyline with their tacky temples. The church won’t win the culture clash it’s creating.

They went from mini temples to "Supersize Me". Stadium sized temples do not belong in residential neighborhoods.

It does seem strange that the church should tempt fate by putting so many eggs in one basket. One precedent could cause an avalanche of expensive litigation.

But even if they get away with it, locals will resent the gaudy eyesores placed there by a religious cult. It's like Biff Tanner putting in a casino.

It’s lunacy on full display and will be very damaging to the church. It’s almost like Russ is a closet exMormon who is using his office to destroy the church from the inside. Ha! Ha! He’s been a complete disaster. Oaks will be no different.

The clown car is now an 18-wheeler. Should a 100-year-old really be driving?

They don't seem to give a damn about bad PR. I think the change in their PR plan pivoted around two things. First, the church became uber butt-hurt around 2013 or 2014 when the Supreme Court ruled on legality of same sex marriage. Perhaps the Q15 received a detailed report of how much $$$ the church had wasted lobbying to keep gay marriage illegal since the 1990s.

I also think the "I'm a Mormon" campaign quickly went south when the Book of Mormon musical debuted around the same time. Publicly, the church leaders acted like they can smile and be big about their spiritual book being mocked, but I think they burned up and became indignant about the matter.

We can surmise that the church thought the "I'm a Mormon" campaign was going to increase convert baptisms and curb the Mormon missionary defection~ it's estimated that 40% who serve a church mission will eventually leave the church.

And then the church started its own dumpster fire by prohibiting children of gay parents from being baptized. It went from divine revelation to a solemn inspired church policy to "we have no idea" who supported that policy except Monson signed it, so it was his brainchild idea. Personally, I think it was Oaks, Nelson and Ballard who rammed the policy through the Q15. \

Now the church has so much money that they don't care about winning over (appeasing) towns and communities. They will litigate forever and they have the money to win, even if it takes years and decades.

Yup. Kind of the attitude the church had in Nauvoo. We have the biggest city in Illinois. We have the biggest militia. We are well organized.

It didn’t end well.
