The team currently known as the Arizona Coyotes has been sold and will be playing in Utah next season.

The previous owner is retaining the rights to the name “Coyotes,” so they’ll have to come up with a new name. Will they be able to reveal the new name, or can they only do that at the veil?

The everlasting honour amongst your RfM peers of being crowned Pretty Darn Clever!

And a ticket in the cheap seats for their first home game (if I can persuade the coach - who that is or will be I have zero clue and how generous s/he may be - also not a clue - likely not very).

This made me realize something. The NBA team the Jazz moved from New Orleans to Utah many years ago. I suspect that the team was given a new name, but since that name can only be revealed upon the five points of fellowship at the veil, people still call them the Jazz.

The Lakers also took their Minnesota name with them to Los Angeles. And the Dodgers.

Hey, I'm excited! I've followed pro hockey in SLC since the Golden Eagles came in 1969. I hope they take that name.

However, some wag suggested the Utah Soakers.

I like it. It reminded me of a group of female singer/songwriters that all had separate careers, but occasionally performed together under the name “The Mother Folkers.”

I attended high school in Duluth, MN, 'Duluth East';

high school hockey was # 1 in those days, I've forgotten whether or not the college (University of Minnesota at Duluth, "UMD") had a hockey team or not...

I seem to recall that the hockey team members had more going on with the female students than the other team guys did.

also: my jr. high there, ORDEAN, had a swim pool, the guys were required to swim nude, I should have asked why that was...

UMD had a team, they are the Bulldogs, same colors as the main campus. But yes high school hockey was king. I got “sick” during the state tournament regularly.
