In Washington state after a worse outcome (woman blinded bc of material falling off of a truck) the legislature enacted what was said to be nations First law against failure to secure a load;
Those involved are now pushing to have a national law enacted.
I hope it wasn't wasted. There is a strict commandment from Heavenly Father that thou shalt multiply and replenish the Earth. Every time once gets wasted God gets irate.
Wow - It is funny in so far that she did not get killed. How stupid. From the pictures it appears to be a Mormon couple or at least in the reception there is a guy who seems to be wearing a name tag.
The groom to be said that he was "Just thinking of the fastest possible way to get the mattress from A to B, which just happened to be throwing the mattress in the back and putting Lydia on top." They drove 50 mph.
No mister: you weren't thinking.
This sounds like something that would be on Jackass.
Sounds to me like a used mattress because delivery is included when a new one is purchased…. I pledge & promise to Never do anything like this, pinky promise!!
I saw a similar stunt with the driver and a passenger, each with an arm out the window, holding down a mattress on the roof by hand. They were on 30 mph city streets, so they might have gotten away with it.
In another case, a guy with a pickup had several 4x8 plywood sheets in the pickup truck bed. The low end of the stack was back against the bottom of the tailgate. The front end was leaning against the roof of the cab. No rope at all.
What could go wrong?
I saw the truck go through a major intersection where the speed limit was 40 or 50. I bet the truck hit a bump and the bounce put a bit of air space between the top sheet and the rest of the stack. That was all it took. The sheet lifted gracefully into the air, soaring up about 15 or 20 feet, making a perfect loop before hitting the pavement. Thankfully, there was no traffic behind the truck, so it didn't cause a traffic accident.
I can't decide which aspect of this situation stunned me more, the fact they did this in the first place, that they were willing to be interviewed about it, or that the station did a story on it and lectured the rest of the us on what not to do when transporting things by car.
