I'm sure they wouldn't carry on like this if it weren't ghawd's will...

The Mormon church authorities feel that they are above community rules and laws.

"To this extent, its leadership has been at pains to explain that the size and scale of their temples are essential to their worship, with the height of the steeples 'drawing their eyes towards heaven'."

I suggest putting boobs on the steeple.

Query: In which year (in your opinion,) did the Mormons first prove themselves to be poor neighbors?

The second day that they were invented. Mormons got run out of every place and State that they settled. It wasn't due to their strange religion, it was due to them stealing livestock, stealing land, trying to steal women and take over local governments. Not to mention printing their own currency and destroying media sources. They were bad neighbors everywhere they landed. An invasive species.

Agree with stillanon

1831 Palmyra
1837 Kirtland
1838 Missouri
1844 Nauvoo

Wow. Several things in that article made my blood boil.

I think Mormons must be past caring if people like them. They are wealth generators.

"oh, Howard Hughes
Did your money make you better.
Are you waiting for the hour
When you can screw me
Cuz you're big enough."

That, I think, would be the theme verse for the actions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints today.

It's funny--I usually come down against local zoning laws, particularly those that oppose housing for the poor or charity efforts in wealthy neighborhoods. But since the LDS church doesn't do a lot of good works--it just likes to throw its weight around--I'll definitely support local residents in this instance. I wonder if one of these cases will likely land in the U.S. Supreme Court a few years from now and how the Court would rule...

I'd like to know how many towns they've run over small towns.

I wonder if any Mormons are starting to get an idea about just why they might have been run out of Missouri.

I wonder if they had second thoughts after rescinding the extermination order.

"Help needed: Letter in opposition to McKinney, Texas Temple. The LDS/Mormon church is seeking approval for a 173-ft (!!) steeple for this building in Fairview. They are soliciting emails in support ahead of a May 9th vote. Please consider looking into this issue."

Yes, I am an ExMo but even when I was an active Mo and I went to the temple every week for years I was never concerned about how tall the steeple of the temple is.

Paris France Temple does not have a steeple.
Mesa Arizona Temple does not have a steeple.
Laie Hawaii Temple does not have a steeple.

Of course my favorite temple was the San Diego temple because it reminded me of a castle.

All of this will open the church up to more ridicule. They think it's bad now.

It will bring to the forefront the tax exempt status of the church and citizens will question--- should they be able to accumulate so much wealth without paying taxes?
