Some of these are just bizarre to me. Dublin? Milan? Summit, New Jersey? And how many does that make for Texas, now?

I guess the Lord really means 'suffer the little children'.

I will speak up for old El Paso. Members there were told that they would be accommodated by crossing into Ciudad Juarez to attend the temple there. However, I don't need to mention how dangerous it can be to cross into Mexico. It's not even US citizens who can be targeted, many Mexican Americans worry about their personal safety.

Members can either drive 8 hours to Dallas-Ft Worth or 3.5 hours to Albuquerque, NM. The last time that I travelled the I-25 north corridor, the wind was so bad that my SUV was being blown around like a toy top. In a 5 mile distance, there were six RV and trailers flipped over. One trailer went over a guard rail into the chasm. I don't like driving that road.

Okay, that I can understand. I do recall reading about how dangerous Ciudad Juarez is.

Oh good! More neighborhoods and cities to piss of and sue if they don't let them force their church Costcos into their neighborhood.
Plus, Price, Utah? There's a whole 6500 people there. They have 1 McDonalds. Now, They'll have a 1:1 ratio of McDonalds to McTemples.

I've stopped at gas stations/travel centers in this town when traveling Hwy 191. This is just an observation from making a multi-state multi day journey.

I was amazed at how many vehicles with Utah plates pulled up and its occupants unloaded for a smoke and vape break. At least 4 vehicles and mostly younger people. I counted no less than 14 people either getting their tobacco fix or vaping who knows what. I had my hood up checking my motor and coolant levels and it was too much for me. I had to leave sooner than I had planned to because I don't like smelling cigarettes or chemicals from vaping.

Keep in mind that this was the only place where I had witnessed such an event after driving through smoking meccas of Oklahoma and North and West Texas.

I’ve just concluded the LDS Church leadership are delusional. Crazy people with a lot of money to burn. They will just continue to piss more neighborhood residents off with their temple building.

Both Russ and Elder Cook think the church has great growth ahead. Ha! Ha! These people are nuts and it’s simple as that.

‘Not to mention, Ja Ja…

I’m guessing that nearly 100% of the General Contractor awards go to LDS members who are expected to pay aka Kick Back 10% to ChurchCo.

Anyone familiar with construction knows that the GC passes thru around 96 to 98 % of the cost items to subs & suppliers.

Queen Creek, Arizona is another puzzler. It's about 15-20 minutes away from the Gilbert temple.

Whatever is the best for the church and also best for pocket books when all of the temples are dissolved.

Also wanted to ask if you have seen the temple in Layton. Its huge, towers over everything and looks way out of place. This can only happen in Utah. Other cities have said NO to these monster sized, out of touch with reality temples in small towns. Now I know why. They may as well change the name of Layton to Mormonville.

If Only the main focus item for ChurchCo was Honesty, Kindness, Respect for others....

What a SHAME that the GAs don't think those are a good sales item for the Sheeple.

Dublin is definitely all about show, sticking it to those.pesky Catholics.

Wiki suggest that there are less than 10000 Mormons in the combined Northern & Southern Ireland.

Doing the usual maths, of assuming 50% activity rates (very optimistic imo) v reported membership, minus jack Mormons, none temple recommend holders & kids under 12, you've probably got 2-3000 members that might be regular attenders of the new temple.

That is going to be some construction spend £ v endowments completed!

I felt the same way about the Rome temple. The Mormons launched an incursion into Roman Catholic territory.

I don't find Dublin bizarre at all. The church is long established in Ireland. However, the LDS church always gets the Irish situation wrong. In this case, there are pretty much as many members in Northern Ireland as there are in independent Ireland. Therefore it would make sense for the temple to be nearer Belfast than Dublin. But Americans can't understand these nuances.

I told my son-in-law that there are now too many temples, and members report that there are very few patrons. He disagreed and said that they are always packed and it's hard to get into an endowment ceremony. Is there anyone here who can verify either claim?

It would be interesting to know how much the temple is actually open.

Here is what's happening at temples outside of the Mormon corridor. You must call your chosen/assigned temple to set an appointment. They do not allow walk ins.

So here's a possible weekday schedule. Mon-Wed, temple is closed for cleaning and temple staff training (with missionaries being given exclusive access for one day). Thurs-Sat will have the most sessions available, but workers may be advised that sessions will be annulled if not enough patrons show up.

And the church can create an artificial shortage and faux demand by reducing the number of sessions offered on any given day. A member can think that their temple is darn busy, but the church can easily manipulate how and when patrons can attend.

And the temple staff has called my mom to CANCEL her scheduled endowment session and encouraged her to reschedule to a different day. (Which she did not reschedule and decided to attend the following month).

As an outsider, how do any of the LDS temples compare to the Norte Dame de Paris?

Not even close, although a few temples have historic value such as SLC.

Most major European cities have at least one cathedral/church/basilica that runs circles around any LDS temple. The SLC temple is not so much impressive in comparison to what’s in Europe. It is impressive because a relatively small, poor religious organization out in the middle of nowhere in pre-Industrial Revolution America took on such a big challenge and actually pulled it off.
