As reported by the SL Tribune tonight.
I never thought THAT would happen. How can the members tell which women are slackers now if sleeveless dresses won't be a telltale sign anymore?? LOL

Remember your Temple Teachings. Satan is the God of this World. Once you understand that a lot more about MoronicPriesthood/MFMC makes perfect sense.

LOL.
God has spoken!

Is that supposed to be their attempt to make them more comfortable when it is 120 degrees all summer?

Does this mean my grandmother wore the one piece long legged garments with ties in vain? She was told God required them.

According to Oaks, all commandments are temporary.

Cafeteria Mormonism for me but not for thee.

The young women still won't wear them. They will don their athletic wear as often as possible and call it good.

Why not just require temple garments to be worn when going to the temple?

I think the church would have been ahead of the game in so many ways.

That might be such a good idea the prophet will announce it as a new revelation at an upcoming conference.

No. That would stop the ability for everyday mormons to judge each other, separate the chosen from the gentiles and gossip about fellow ward members.

This allowed you to do your motions in the toilet without stripping down. Then there was a giant elastic panel above the butt flap to allow the garment some give. For modesty's sake, there was a one-inch button that closed the enormous butt fly, and you were always sitting on it, and squirming to get it out of the way of your sensitive cheeks; it would not only hurt, but make a large, button-shaped red imprint on your sensitive butt that might stay with you all day."

I was told in the 60s when I first went though the temple that the garment was to cover your nakedness. At that time we had to wear long sleeved garments and long legged garments under our white clothing. We were covered!!! It made sense because that what what was being taught. Then they changed it.
When my sister got married in the late 70's my mum had a big fight because the dress my sister wanted to wear had short sleeves. Cant have that with temple garments.
Looking at this new and improved garment I am wondering how to I resolve all the teachings I have been taught. The only way I can explain it is this is the way the brethren feel they can keep people in the Church, paying their tithing and going to the temple. It has nothing to do with the original plan of covering your nakedness.
The bigger question. Why was this not discussed at General Conference and explained to the members that this is new revelation? Oh wait it probably was not revelation but policy or a temporary commandment.

My garments were showing under my wedding dress. My pictures would have looked so much better with shorter sleeve's.

one comment reads

hope they find garments that work for women. It is such a struggle for me to wear them at night. They twist, bind, ride up every time I try to turn over. I get yeast infections because I try to wear them all the time and they do not breathe well. I do my best to wear them according to my covenants but sometimes they just have to come off for awhile.

Some of the comments from the linked article are just wild. Assuming that the contributors are LDS, many women admit that they either stop wearing at night, don't wear them in hot climates or buy men's garments because they find them more comfortable.

And there's the ultra pious one who insists on wearing them ALL THE TIME despite the design being miserable.

Okay. So first, these weren’t sexy thongs or anything. They were cotton ones I bought from the GAP back in the day so I wouldn’t have panty lines at work. Super comfy, breathable, perfect under tightish pants (also from the GAP). And it was summer.

I was riding the CalTrain on my way to work, and I was like, “Why does it feel like my drawers are bunched up my butt? Why does it feel like I have floss in my sensitive parts?”

After fidgeting in my seat for a bit I went into the restroom and saw my mistake. I had to decide if I could make it to work like this and fix it there or if I should try to fix my issue in the small restroom of a moving train.

I opted for the train.

The floor was clean, so I took off my shoes, pants, that effin thong and tried to put myself back together while the train was ratta tat tatting and lurching along. I was bumping into the door, into the walls, the sink, and I was probably cursing and making a racket because someone started knocking on the door asking me if I was okay. I lied and said that I was, but I really wasn’t.

I eventually emerged victorious, and I never jacked up the thong thing again.

I've been saying for a while now that they should have visible jewelry instead -- similar to a sorority or fraternity badge/pin. The higher up your position, the more blinged out your pin. Plus you could wear special dongles on a chain attached to your pin to denote positions held such as bishop, SP, etc. The visibility of jewelry would encourage people to go through the temple and to hold high church positions. It might also spark inquiries from non-Mormons.

Here's an example of a Kappa Sigma fraternity badge with an attached dongle:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1786546420/14k-kappa-sigma-fraternity-badge-pin?

Wouldn't the Mormons have fun with that?

A member of the Presiding Bishopric told me Africa is what is driving how the church is ran. If it works in Africa it will work anywhere in the world. The new garment changes are for African women who live in a hot climate. Some Zulu women wear no top at all. I guess if the church is being inspired by Africa, women should go topless.

The decisions are made in Salt Lake but they like to test things in Africa. The thinking is if it works in Africa it will work anywhere.

From the article:

These new designs are currently only available to select areas, including Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and the Philippines. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has not made an official announcement about this testing phase, but shop information shows the new style should be widely available in the last quarter of 2025.

They previously, in the 70s, said decaf is OK, the letter was read in SMs BUT: that was Only Temporary!!

that advice/information has gone far, far, down the memory hole...

The more I think about this, the more pissed and I feel.

I wore garments for decades, through hot summers, pregnancies, nursing, periods, and a lot activities that were not exactly convenient or comfortable wearing garments all the time.

FOR WHAT? Now they decide all that wasn't really required BY GOD and they just change things? They weren't inspired then, and they aren't inspired now. They are responding to social pressure because they have to. It's sad to think there are women out there, stuck in garments, thinking God told some men what women's underwear need to be.

Out of all the problems and suffering in the world, God can't seem to come up with any suggestions other than where to buy land or dictate underwear style changes. Go figure.
