Has the Church created any program as good as the Boy Scouts? Do young Mormon men find the same kind of fulfillment that they used to in the Scouting program?

It's been awhile since the Church cut its ties with the Boy Scouts. I assume they replaced it with something similar. They have had plenty of time to try out whatever it was they replaced it with. I think they got out of the Boy Scouts around 2019.

If they created a new program right away, they have had around 5 years to test it out. How have things gone with it?

Maybe they haven't created a new program yet. Maybe they didn't create a new program until few years after leaving Scouting. Maybe they have tested several new ideas out to see if they would work as well as Scouting once did. Maybe one of the ideas has "stuck", and has been working reasonably well. Maybe no idea has "stuck" yet, and they are still trying to figure something out.

If a new idea has "stuck", I wonder how successful it has been. I wonder if people have found it to be better than Scouting, worse than Scouting, or about the same as Scouting.

I think afterschool sports have replaced scouting across the board.

The LDS Church can do nothing to change that.

Well, a few things. First, outside of Utah, AZ and ID "the" church had very little involvement in the BSA. There are a lot of kids that join the scouts because they are not athletic and have little interest in playing sports. They're probably now spending more time gaming or on social media. In Utah the BSA is just another level of indoctrination. Now, that they've bailed on the BSA, less kids are getting less out of church indoctrination.

Does BYU still offer college degrees in Scouting management?

Since the Boy Scouts have been around since pre-1910, I highly doubt that anything that the LDS church replaced it with will have the same effect for at least a decade. And the effect could take longer if the Mormon church refuses to properly finance the program.

The church has some coloring books for the first presidency and other great church leaders.

The church will never attempt to replace a program like Scouting. IMO it was the liability issue that gave them the reason to exit post haste.

Bishops had their annual ward funding dropped to the point that they could not afford scouting. Plus, then when LDS Corp. banned fund raising then it was only a matter of time.

My wife was heavy in the Cub Scouts and it cost her lots of her own money to buy badges and other items the ward could no longer fund.

Therefore IMO LDS Corp. will make no effort to replace the program, but lean on the indoctrination methods.

Scouting works very well when the kids want to be members, and the leaders want to be leaders, and have the requisite character and leadership skills to take on such a role. The problem with the Mormon scouting program is that it was imposed on both the youth and the leaders. That is why it was never very well respected among other BSA troops.

One of my cousins said that her son's preferred the boy scouts program over the newer young men's program. Lol sometimes the LDS church sends surveys out to ask questions to their members. I have left the LDS church before my children were 8 years old so I can not compare the boy scout program to the newer young men's program.
