Due to failure to renew it's license to operate in India, the construction on the Temple in India is paused, indefinitely.

Basically due to an undeclared reason, the church is no longer able to send money to India, as a result, the construction of the Temple there is paused.

Lots of speculation the the corporation failed to pay the appropriate taxes, eerrrr bribes, I mean gifts to the right parties.

I don't think it is gods they need to bribe!

Bear in mind also that India is currently controlled by a Hindu nationalist grouping. They are hostile to other religions which doesn't help.

Indians must have figured out that Mormon temples are temples in name only, so they feel duped.

A temple requiring a recommend is not a temple. It's not even a church. It's a private club.

That is the precise reason LDS temples are not given tax exemptions in the UK. They are not open to the public, and so are considered the equivalent of a private club.

If only other countries, the US in particular, were so clear-eyed.

Compared to the colorful charismatic character gods in India, the Mormon god must seem extremely dull.
