Seems as if someone did a deep dive into things Bednar has taught:
https://faenrandir.github.io/a_careful_examination/bednar-objectionable-to-former-mormons/That's an awesome collection, but I can't figure out why they didn't include his teaching that Jesus is not the foundation upon which we build.
April 2024 General Conference
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2024/04/21bednar?lang=eng"The symbolism of Christ as the “rock” upon whom we should build the foundation of our lives is most instructive. Please note in this verse that the Savior is not the foundation. Rather, we are admonished to build our personal spiritual foundation upon Him."
In doing a bit of research I ran across comments about an experience with Bednar at a conference. I don't know when this took place, but this woman recounts the story of Bednar at the conclusion of a group meeting as people were shaking his hands, he takes the mic and says in a stern voice, "When the spirit leaves, so do I." Maybe he has it the wrong way round... The Spirit leaves when Bednar enters.
Here's a video link at the 43:40 min mark where the story is shared, or you can scroll through the video embed to the 43:30 mark.

It comes from a place of authority. It's Bednar making the inherent claim that the Spirit isn't there and that he somehow can't be there either. It's weird all around.
Bednar is well known for these types of antics. His wife can't stand before he stands. BYU students can stand while singing a song because he didn't stand, and heaven-forbid we set some sort of precedent of standing whilst singing....
This is a story from 7 years ago:
"He came to our YSA Branch. Only young adults were welcome. As adult leaders we were relegated to the back row. He opened the meeting with jovial comments. He tried to come across as just a nice guy. He created an air of familiarity. The audience laughed and relaxed. Toward the end he left an apostolic blessing upon the congregation. He left. The audience stood and began visiting. It was a warm friendly atmosphere. Bednar then stormed back in, stood at the podium and rebuked the young adults for their loud laughter and chasing away the spirit. He then revoked the apostolic blessing. It was horrifying display of arrogance."
5 years ago:
"Elder Bednar came to my stake as a youth and provided a question and answer time. During this time a girls stood and asked "I just don't understand why women can't have the priesthood." Elder Bednar stared at her for a full minute or more in silence and I watched as she squirmed under his unsmiling gaze. He then turned and sat down. He leaned over and whispered something to the Stake President and the Pres stood up and said "Elder Bendar's time is too precious to waste on such trivial matters. I will answer this question and then Elder Bednar will return to answer the rest of the questions."
"At that moment I knew I was never to ask such a question. The girl was in tears as she sat down.
"At the end of the meeting everyone stood up after his "Apostalic Blessing" and began to buzz excitedly as they formed a line to shake his hand. Elder Bednar left the line and went to the podium and "rebuked our disorderly conduct after such a sacred ordinance". We were dead silent as the line was completed and we filed out for cookies of shame."
Bednar has, at minimum, narcissistic personality disorder. Why does he have it? I don't know so I don't judge. However, if he is Christlike why would we worship Christ? To get abused and gaslit?
How much of this does Bendar fulfil?
"A "narcissistic" person is someone who exhibits an excessive sense of self-importance, a preoccupation with admiration, and a lack of empathy for others, often believing they are superior to others and needing constant validation, which is considered a key trait of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), a mental health condition; essentially, they are overly self-centered and focused on their own needs at the expense of others."
I used to live in Bednar's old ward in Rexburg, and home taught (those were the good old days) with his former home teacher. Lee told me about when he would home teach Bednar. When they walked in his home Bednar would start a timer and when the timer rang the conversation would abruptly end and he would walk them to the door. So welcoming!
He would drop in with his wife to female students' apartments unannounced and then chastise them for the normal wear-around-the-house clothes they were wearing in their own apartment. You're not ready to unexpectedly host the university president at 3 pm on a Sunday? Shame.
Multiple times he has left apostolic blessings on a congregation and then revoked it five minutes later when the audience was chatting with each other, because being friendly isn't Christ-like if you can't be friendly in utter silence.
David Bednar has the hallmarks of a pathological personality disorder. And that's just addressing the petty and cruel things Bednar does. Don't get me started on Ensign Peak and the Church's response to COVID-19. Then the labels would get a lot uglier than narcissist.
One thing I've learned in my short stint on this small blue globe in the sky is that the LDS leaders are some of the worst at receiving corrective feedback. They've literally built it into their Handbook of instructions... except for the fact that a "living" leader can condemn a past leader, but the lowly members should never do that because it's somehow not their stewardship. They should be silent and not speak publicly... which goes back to my reference of what I deem to be false LDS covenants and their relationship to the "anointed" leaders.
