One entry reads -- "Sleep outside, shaved her head, doused her with water, over his nose and mouth, head in the toilet, needs to be painful. Blood on his face, scream and scream."

Nothing like family values.

A therapist featured in the docuseries says Hildebrandt “would prey on the weak,” adding, “she was excellent at exploiting Mormon anxiety.”

I am not sure what exactly this is? Mormon anxiety?

"I am not sure what exactly this is? Mormon anxiety?"

Here are my thoughts on what Mormon anxiety could be trying to be perfect. The pressure to be worthy to enter the celestial kingdom can give anxiety. Back when I was an active LDS member a stay at home mom Sunday's would always be the most stressful day of the week. Trying to keep the children quiet in church. Just getting everyone ready and on time for church felt like a chore. On fast Sundays I would always be so grumpy looking back it would have been better for everyone around me had I not fasted.

I agree with your definition of "Mormon anxiety." In addition, I think so many Mormon parents spend so much time worrying that their children won't be faithful Mormons. They're afraid that their kids will become addicted to porn, won't serve missions, won't get married in the temple, and on and on. They're afraid not just that their children will make wrong choices, but how those choices will reflect on them as parents.

I think that this fear is what helped make a successful career for Jodi Hildebrandt. It also probably made Ruby Franke and other Mormons easy targets for Hildebrandt's "counseling."

Today I watched 'Devil in the Family' on Hulu about Ruby Franke. It shows the danger of family vlogging for the children. The children need to perform and play happy so that the family channel can earn money.

The whole family appear to have been vloggers...

When did "real" life lose its value?

In mormonism, it never had any value. The only value was in a fake facade.

I viewed this documentary and one of the most infuriating things I heard was from the eldest son, Chad, explaining how he was told his typical teenage boy stuff - kissing girls and viewing pr0n - was the reason why Jodi was "possessed" and there was "a bad spirit in the house," and "you are under the influence of satan," or some-such.

And then they kicked him out.

It's some of the worst programming couched as teachings or doctrine that the LDS religion continues to spew and the damage this rhetoric causes to young men is unquantifiable. It must be stopped.

This family didn't stand a chance...
