on Jesus.
I am getting flooded with 19 mad 21 year old talking about how wonderful Jesus is, and what He is doing. How special they feel having Jesus in their lives. They are so happy to have Jesus in their lives. And how Jesus can make things happen. Spoken by young people in a very protective environment. Some are just trying to out doing other missionaries. I do not find them very spiritual. I feel they would appeal to Christians "who really the spirit " in the meetings and fall when the floor when the preacher touches them. They would not make me want to join any Church that present Jesus the way they do. These are my views. Anyone who has seen them what are your views? This was not the Jesus I grew up with in my Church teachings.

Thing is they won't appeal to the happy clappy crowd. General Conference is a testimony killer for new converts. Most hymns are a dirge.

I can't stand the deceptive ones.

Disguising church activities as main line Christianity or secular social events.

In some the have the sister missionaries without name tags, more or less flirting to invite you to a luncheon or a dance.

The more marginalized people feel, the further they retreat into magical thinking. So now Jesus is America's personal genie. Christianity has become a cargo cult. Praise Jesus if cargo falls from the sky, have more faith if it doesn’t.

Being a missionary must be hell these days. I wouldn't blame them for anything.

are churchCo socials like pot-luck dinners gone forever?

are dances forbidden or qualified admittance?

What about 'road shows' or talent contests?

anything outside SM, SS, & PH?

I trust the wymens still have RS

What about YM & YW? (previously Mutual Improvement Association!!)

Those from my generation (late Boomer) who are okay with this must have severe cognitive dissonance.

People often get caught up proving they are the best at something without considering if that "something" is even of value. "Jesus loves me more than you, so there!"

The people who let "Jesus take the wheel" are the ones in the traffic jams. Oddly they will tell you it is the best thing they have ever done as they sit in the middle of an intersection waiting for someone else to move. There is a lot to be said for flying solo. In fact the best day of a pilot's life is the first solo.

I get them all the time, ostensibly from Portland, OR, based missionaries. They talk of "coming to Jesus", a term NEVER used by the church. All of us know that it is sort of a scam, where they use bait-and-switch. So a few months ago, I answered their FB ad, saying that people resent this dishonest bait-and-switch, and encouraged them to be honest, as a good Christian should be. Then they began love-bombing me with FB Messaging, and saying, No, they are not scamming people. Next time they popped up, I blocked them; when you block someone, FB admin wants to know why, so I said that it was a scam. I don't get badgered by them anymore. But the boy-men missionaries are still featured in their ads.

Just stop watching them. FB follows an algorithm based on what you stop on when scrolling down. Even if you don't stop to open it.

I watch cat videos and car crashes. I get a lot of pet food ads and personal injury and car insurance ads on my feed.
