Not important to our salvation...

On the baby center link, one of the posters used that all too familiar line

This one really bugs me because it serves as a way to discredit some of the unfavorable issues with the church.

When the profit of the church says it is all 100% true or it is a fraud, everybit of it is 'important to our salvation'.

All of it has to be true.

Kolob has to be real

Joseph Smith could not have lied about being a polygamist

Did JS use a rock in a hat or did he use the Urim and Thummim to translate

Was there really a worldwide flood?

The list goes on and on, but the point is that it all has to be true or it is all a fraud.

Therefore, everything even the small, less significant things ARE important to our salavation.

Maybe not important to our salvation, but important to be able to determine the truth.

Yes, someone said that to me once and I replied

"Nothing could be more important to my salvation than to find out whether or not Joseph Smith was a liar."

Because if he is, then I'm wasting my time and my happiness in this life, being enslaved in Mormonism. If the other Christians are right, I could be seriously off the path and possibly screwing up my eternities. If there is no God or afterlife, there is no way I want this only life destroyed by Mormonism.

Nothing is more important than knowing if this religion is a lie and all these "unimportant" things are evidences to whether or not the founder is a liar.

First of all, remember

THERE AIN'T NO SUCH THING AS "SALVATION"!! Forgive me for shouting but the whole concept and doctrine of salvation is a fairytale of the first order. Once you have that fact firmly planted in mind everything else makes more sense.
